FOOD:
The menu is pretty straightforward. You order your entrée, and you can get a single protein or a combination of proteins. Choices include chicken, beef, tofu, shrimp, or salmon. Everything comes with an appetizer choice of mushrooms or chicken livers, and then you have a choice of steamed white rice or fried rice, and your meal is also accompanied by a miso soup and a salad with a ginger dressing. You are also given two different sauces to dip your food in, should you so desire: one is a ginger sauce, and the other is a special sauce – that’s what they call it – and I’m not really sure what’s in it, but it’s kind of like an Asian inspired thousand island sauce is the best way to describe it.
SERVICE:
Our server, Rose, was the bees’ knees!!! Our chef was great too & I don’t know his name, but he was a little less lively than others, but I think that’s because we were a bunch of adults only lol.
AMBIANCE:
All in all, everything was great, and our party enjoyed their meals. I personally thought everything kind of tasted the same.
Not a place I would frequent, and it is kind of expensive, but you do get a lot for what you pay for, and it is definitely a fun place to go to for a celebratory occasion.
Keep in mind the tables are in a U shape, so it’s really hard to be present with your entire party, and whatever side you’re on, you feel like you’re on your own little island, which is a little disappointing for a birthday celebration, but we still had fun and made it work the best we could.
They do take reservations, but they do not seat until the entire party is present. The restaurant was clean, but you feel like you’re going back in time. The ambience was casual yet very lively and fun.
Having visited several hibachi restaurants before, I always looked forward to the entertaining performances and lively interactions with the chefs that make the meal enjoyable. However, this time, the atmosphere was noticeably dry and lacked the usual excitement. The focus seemed to be solely on the cooking, with minimal conversation or engagement from the hibachi chef.
Service-wise, things didn’t improve. About a minute after the chef left, our server arrived with takeout boxes without asking if we needed anything else. She returned 20 minutes later, again offering boxes but never inquiring if we wanted additional items like drinks or desserts. By that point, my cocktail was already finished, and although I was considering ordering more, the lack of attentiveness made me decide to just pay and leave.
In terms of value, the experience felt overpriced for what was offered. I believe I could have enjoyed a comparable hibachi meal at a lower cost elsewhere, especially since the entertainment aspect was missing.
The two star is for the cocktail and an open concept place. Overall, we won’t recommend this place
Our server was super helpful and accommodating, especially with our group’s GF needs. The teppan entrée came with soup, salad, and an appetizer. I had the NY strip with chicken liver and fried rice. The steak was excellent, tender and flavorful. The liver was good, not my favorite though.
Our chef did a fantastic job cooking for a group of nine while keeping us entertained. It was the perfect balance of showmanship and energy without being too over the top. The food was fresh, well-seasoned, and the portions were huge.
Overall, a great spot for tasty food, fun vibes, and dinner time spectacle. I’d recommend for group celebrations or a unique night out if you’re looking for something different.
On Sunday evening, March 31st, our party of five dined at your Tyson Corner (Viana) establishment. After a 30-minute wait, we were seated at a table and grill that were visibly unclean and sticky.
Despite expressing our concerns to the waiter, who indicated the grill would be cleaned by the cook, we found the initial state unacceptable. We were expected to consume salads, soups, and appetizers in an unsanitary environment. A subsequent attempt to clean the table by a busser with a soiled towel further compounded our dissatisfaction.
Furthermore, my attempt to address this matter with the manager was met with apparent indifference.
This experience was deeply disappointing and has significantly impacted our perception of your restaurant. While I understand that grills require cleaning, the table should have been thoroughly cleaned before seating guests.
This level of uncleanliness and the lack of concern from management are unacceptable. I have attached photos as evidence of the unacceptable conditions. While I have no intention of returning, I hope you take this complaint seriously and implement necessary improvements to ensure cleanliness, professionalism, and guest satisfaction moving forward.
Thank YOu!

The hostess was friendly, and we were seated promptly. Another guest later joined our table. While waiting, we noticed that the hibachi cooks at other tables were enthusiastically celebrating birthdays—singing, making the onion volcano, drawing hearts or “Happy Birthday” with the egg, and generally creating a fun experience. It appeared that almost every table had someone celebrating.
Unfortunately, our experience was very different. Our son was the only child there, and despite casually mentioning to the cook that it was his birthday, none of the usual hibachi birthday touches were done—no volcano, no birthday message, no acknowledgment at all. What made it more disappointing was that once our cook finished with our table, he went directly to another table and did the full birthday routine there.
To add to that, the service felt rushed once the food was prepared. We still had sushi left on the table, but the cleaning staff were eager to clear plates, utensils, tongs, and spoons, which felt unprofessional and uncomfortable.
We typically tip 20%, but given the experience, we left 15%. We considered speaking to a manager but didn’t want to make a scene on our son’s birthday.
Overall, the inconsistency in how guests are treated was frustrating and disappointing. Based on our experience, it felt like Sakura brings out its “A game” selectively, which left a sour note on what should have been a special occasion.
I had the shrimp and chicken with a nice fresh Geisha as a drink and it was a lot of food. The chef was charismatic and cracking jokes as he cooked and very skilled.
Great food and quite the experience if you’re looking for that.
