Although my wife has been to Wilmington plenty and this is my first time in Wilmington, we decided to try Saigon Bistro due to our love for Vietnamese food. We were greeted almost immediately and cheerfully by our waiter Brandon. The service was overall very good, the food was delicious and the owner even came to check on everyone. I have been to many Vietnamese restaurants in my day and this is on the top of the list. Recommended.

Fiancee and I dined here and had a mostly great experience. Ordered and few small plates and a Bahn Mi to share.
The good: dumplings (dim sum menu), a Bahn mi with BBQ beef, and an order of crab and pork spring rolls. Our meal came with a complimentary (to our surprise) spring roll and salad. The salad was simple yet excellent with its peanut vinaigrette dressing and fresh leafy greens(no iceberg!!!). The spring roll was also good. The Bahn Mi was delicious, but not the best one I’ve had in town. Still, it’s a great sandwich and I’d order it again. Our server was helpful and attentive despite being alone on a very busy afternoon.
The not as good: the bench in our booth was a little uncomfortable, but not so bad it ruined the meal. I think the warm weather brought out more folks than a normal winter afternoon so they were a bit understaffed. The server did a good job considering the situation, though. We did have slight waits a couple of times. The front and back seem like two different restaurants. The back is nice and renovated with comfy chairs and cloth napkins while the front is a bit run down looking with paper napkins, etc. Would be nice if the whole place was consistent. Would have liked a dipping sauce for the dumplings. Spring roll sauce mixed with soy sauce worked pretty well though.
Overall, it was a great meal and I’m looking forward to going back again.

Staff is helpful. A fine blend of French and Vietnamese food. If you go, order the blood orange tuna as an appetizer.. it was delicate and bursting with flavor. The stuffed calamari and duck were both well worth the cost. The phó was the best I’ve ever had with just the right texture and plenty of options t9 adjust the heat. Delicious flavor in everything I’ve eaten there. Sit near the back, it’s very fancy with great lighting. The front is dingy, don’t judge by the front door.

Very authentic place. Staff was very helpful in helping us choose the right meal and drinks for us. The waitress knew her stuff and suggested a sake I was shocked I actually loved. And we were very satisfied with our meals and would be returning.

The food was great, but they kept telling us either “We don’t have that” or “We just ran out of that.” This was for dinner at 6pm, and the place was not busy. Also, I am fairly sure the server had somewhere better to be. Still, a good meal. Would totally order the pho again, to go!

I have always enjoyed both the food and the service at Saigon Bistro. However, I just had the worst experience tonight. We ordered drinks and 3 appetizers. After 45 minutes and no appetizers, we told out waiter that if they weren’t there in the next 5 minutes, we were going to have to forgo them since we were trying to get to a show on time. He told us he had forgotten to put our order in and would just take the appetizers off our check. So we left hungry and with nothing to eat. What a huge disappointment. Won’t be going back there anytime soon.

Best fried rice anywhere, ever. I also highly recommend the Vietnamese pancakes. You have to do the full set up though where you use the herbs on a lettuce leaf with the pancake and dip it in the sauce. The sauces are so good! Ask for the spice tower.

If you are looking for Vietnamese food, don’t go here. I bought Banh Mi BBQ beef. The Banh Mi was not crunchy. The meat was cold. The worse Banh Mi ever. Then I bough fish soup. This is obviously was not for Vietnamese. I also bought Pho. This is the only reason I gave 2 stars. Defiantly not coming back here.

Absolutely delicious food, friendly and personable staff, comfortable atmosphere, I could go on. Mostly I have to praise the food, it was amazing and delicious and unlike anything I’ve had before! If we return to the area I know we will stop by again.
