We arrived with reservations, yet waited about 30 minutes before even being offered water. Our server then explained there was confusion about which tables were assigned to which servers. At that point, we decided to order drinks, appetizers, and entrées all at once to help move things along.
Unfortunately, the experience continued to unravel. We waited another 40 minutes for our appetizer, and our drinks still hadn’t arrived. During this time, three tables seated after us—who also ordered after us—received both drinks and appetizers before we did. When we asked, we were told the bar was backed up, which didn’t align with what we were seeing around us.
The lamb hummus was excellent—truly the highlight of the meal. However, we were told additional bread would be brought, and it never was. After finishing the appetizer, we waited another 30 minutes before the next course arrived. By then, the 11-year-old dining with us was completely done and frustrated, which is understandable.
From there, the food was disappointing:
• The chicken was dry and lukewarm, though flavorful
• The fish was overcooked
• The falafel was shockingly dry—honestly the driest falafel I’ve ever had
One of the meals – the small plate lamb – was not even given to us until after the rest of us were finished- when the waitress came to gather our plates we had to tell her because she had not come by to check on us at all
Our server never checked back to see how the food was, and nothing was offered to make up for the experience—no dessert, no comp, just a brief, half-hearted apology.
Saba is a beautiful restaurant with so much potential, but our visit did not reflect the quality or hospitality we expected. Sadly, we won’t be returning, and we can’t recommend it based on this experience. In fact go elsewhere.
I truly hope this was an off night—but it was not a great one for us.
This was the final
Dinner we had in Nola and let me tell you this place packed
The most flavor into their dishes!! Violet our server was wonderful!!! Gave us recommendations, was very patient as we took our sweet time and enjoyed our dinner out on the patio. The garden district is where it’s at!!! Loved the atmosphere here. We walked around after dinner to admire the beautiful architecture in the area. One word of advice however…. Do not get the baklavas cheesecake … the topping reminded me of stale mini wheaties, the cheesecake was warm… and the crust was hard enough to construct a house with. That is literally my only negative thing to say. Outside of that hands down my favorite meal in the big easy
