We were visiting from out of town and found this place by accident it ended up a horrible accident. We ordered chicken livers and were told they could not serve them because they were too big to cook properly…in Tennessee we have these things called knives…they cut stuff into smaller pieces. Tea was weak, hushpuppies were cold cold cold, chicken was tough, curly fries were ok, meatloaf was salty they must have dropped the whole salt box in there because nothing else had any salt at all, country fried steak should have been dumped out to the hogs they might have ate it the only good thing was they had texas Pete hot sauce which was the only saving grace that allowed us to get some of the food down. Will not return unless it’s to gift them with a set of knives.

Its a great local spot were the food is a great value for the price. It has a down home atmosphere and very rarely changes staff. Most of the staff has worked there for at least 15 years or more. It’s very family friendly with kind people and good food.

I ordered country style steak w/mashed potatoes, slaw, and a side of okra 1 tea. I sent 19.50 with my husband to pick it up. They told him it was over $18!! Nothing was seasoned, they didn’t put utensils in the box or bag!! The menu was wrong!! And they wouldn’t honor it!! Do NOT recommend this place!! It’s way to expensive for the quality of food they serve!! Pathetic!! Also, it says they’re open till 7 but was shutting down before 6:30…a joke!!

Now I do understand you have to know what to eat most of the time at cafes. I understand the fish plate here is really good but I didn’t want fish today so I got country style steak. Possibly the worst I’ve ever eaten. Got grilled onions on top. I didn’t realize you could get them that black!??? The slaw however was delicious! The potato salad was -“meh” so that’s why a gave a flat 3. Maybe a cheeseburger or something else here would be good. You can’t be good at everything. Maybe focus the menu on just the things you do well. I got take out and gave a generous tip. Wishing I had that back.

Talk about southern hospitality. Happened upon this place on my trip to May’s Meats. The vegetable beef soup tasted just like mom’s. And the chicken livers … a little crisp but not hard. I now know where I will be eating any time I’m in town.
