Dear Russell’s Pizza,
I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding our recent order. This was our first time ordering from Russell’s Pizza, and unfortunately, the experience did not meet expectations—especially considering we spent approximately $88 on the order and provided a $15 tip.
We placed the order at approximately 3:00 PM, and it arrived within the hour. While the delivery time was reasonable, the overall quality and service were very disappointing. We are currently traveling and staying at the Hyatt Place Galleria, so we were hoping for a positive dining experience after a long day.
There were several concerns:
I ordered a large pizza and changed the crust to cauliflower. I was not informed that this would significantly alter the size and presentation. The pizza was extremely thin and lacked substance.
The lasagna arrived cold and lacked flavor.
The garlic bread was burnt (I have photos showing the condition in which it was delivered).
The cauliflower garlic appetizer was excessively greasy.
We ordered a 2-liter soda and specifically requested plates, cups, and utensils. None of these items were delivered. When I asked the driver, he mentioned he was not informed. He stated he would return with the missing items, but they were never brought back.
Additionally, we initially attempted to order online but were unable to due to issues with credit card processing. We then called the store directly and placed the order with the manager on duty, and I clearly communicated our requests at that time.
As first-time customers, we were genuinely looking forward to trying your food. Unfortunately, receiving cold items, burnt bread, greasy food, and missing essentials made this a very disappointing experience—particularly given the amount spent.
I am providing this feedback because we were truly disappointed and expected a much better experience. I would appreciate someone reviewing this matter and following up with us.
Sincerely,
Randall Negrete
A special shout-out to our waitress, Phania. She was attentive, friendly, and incredibly gracious. We stayed a bit longer after finishing our meal to continue our conversation, and she never made us feel rushed. Instead, we felt truly welcome, relaxed, and comfortable in the space, which made the experience even better.
If you’re ordering pizza, the Margherita is a must. I recommend it without hesitation. It’s perfectly balanced, fresh, and exactly what you want when you’re craving real pizza.
When I think of pizza, I think of Russo’s. Every single time.

I had a fantastic experience at Russo’s! From the door is a friendly and young Hostess making us feel like home !
The pizza looked amazing fresh mozzarella and that crazy good crust made every bite worth it. The tiramisu was to die for, literally melting in my mouth lets not talk about the Oreo Cheesecake!!!
We also tried the mozzarella sticks (huge and delicious), and my daughter ordered a seafood pasta that she absolutely loved.
Service was excellent fast, friendly, and attentive. The manager and team made sure we were happy from start to finish. The place was spotless seriously, I watched a lady cleaning and polishing the oven for 30 minutes!
Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for quality food, great service, and a clean, welcoming environment. Perfect place to eat near the Galleria!
I asked if they’d make me a Trio. Vicente (chef) made it no problem.
Let me start by saying, this was one of the most disappointing pizza slices I’ve ever eaten. Here’s why: the restaurant sells you an old cheese slice—likely made earlier that day (or even the day before)—and then charges extra to add fresh toppings. Afterward, they reheat the slice in the oven, which burns the crust and dries out the old cheese. The result? A slice with the texture of cardboard, no flavor from the sauce or toppings, and an overall stale, reheated taste. Honestly, it reminded me of taking leftover pizza from the fridge and microwaving it—just not fresh.
That being said, not everything was bad. The wings were surprisingly delicious, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The atmosphere was also enjoyable, and the staff were extremely friendly and hardworking, which I truly appreciated.
Overall, if you’re coming here, I’d recommend skipping the pizza and sticking with the wings. Great people, nice vibes—but the pizza recipe and reheating method really need to change.
As you can see, Russo’s commented under my review. Instead of acknowledging the positive things I mentioned about their service and other food I’ve tried, their response only focused on the pizza. In fact, they confirmed in their own words that the slices are made from day-old pizza.
I want to be clear — I love pizza, and I’m sure their large, made-to-order pies are delicious. But the pizza-by-the-slice I had here was still extremely disappointing. There are plenty of places that serve slices fresh, without reheating old cheese and crust. For example, Frank’s Pizza in downtown, or even another Russo’s location I’ve visited (I-10 & Silver at the Marq-E), where the slices are always fresh.
That’s why it’s frustrating that the same chain can serve pizza by the slice in completely different ways depending on location. My point isn’t to tear them down, but to be honest for other customers: if you come here, I’d recommend skipping the giant slice. There are better options elsewhere — including at other Russo’s locations.
