Social Profile:

Rum Boogie Café is a unique restaurant and bar established in 1985 as the cornerstone of the Historic Beale Street and Highway 61, in the mid 1980’s Renaissance of the famed Entertainment District. It blends down-home Delta dining with smokin’ Memphis blues played live seven nights a week, hence their saying “Down Home Cookin’, Down Home Blues”. It sits right in the middle of the musical melting pot that first stirred together the ingredients of poplular music today; blues, country, gospel and rock n roll.

Bar & grill decked out with celebrity-signed guitars offering live music, BBQ, beer & rum drinks.

Excellent live music! Loved the atmosphere and vibe. Great patio to sit outside and people watch, too.

Our waiter was clearly high, we could smell it. He was friendly tho . The food was terrible. I ordered a catfish sandwich and the lettuce wasn’t just wilted, it was molded. The rice wasn’t cooked all the way in the red beans. The side of bread we were given tasted funny, like moldy. The catfish itself was fried perfectly. The drink was made well. Everything else was not good.

Great music, good vibes and nice drinks. We loved the live music here. The band was super fun and extremely talented. You should have a look when you’re in town.

The Bad: Drink was so watered down that a lightweight like myself could tell there was barely ny alcohol in two drinks that cost me $30.

The Good: The music was good but the band kept badgering people for tips.

Left immediately after a few songs. Will never return.

The interior is a sight to see. I loved all the guitars hanging around the whole place. The tables had bright, cheerful plastic gingham tablecloths. The staff were friendly and service was quick. The entertainment was good.

Now about the food, the BBQ Pulled Pork was delightfully smoky with a sweet BBQ sauce poured onto the sandwich. I loved it. It was $18 and did not come with any sides. I had the fried okra that wasn’t seasoned much but I still loved it. I tasted the mac n cheese which wasn’t for me…I think it had pimento cheese in it. All sides were $4.95. I drank iced tea at $4.95 a glass. I really loved the food but felt $55 was a bit much for two sandwiches.

Our waitress was so friendly! I was really grateful they let us eat on the patio outside since I had a cat with me I had traveled to purchase and my kids were hungry! Let me tell you what, this is one of the best meals all three of us have had in forever! Their barbecue…it is SMACK YO GRANDMA, DO A JIG, & SMACK HER AGAIN GOOD! I would eat it for dinner tonight again if I could! The fries were also so great and my oldest loved the pecan pie and that Keylime pie was also one of the best I’ve had anywhere, including beach locations! I should not have written this review because now I am hungry and craving that meal all over again!!!

We visited on a Sunday night. There was no wait. We caught the tail end of a solo musician and the first couple of songs from a band. Both were great.

The catfish was fabulous with bold seasoning and a crispy crust. The ribs were exceptionally seasoned but a little tough for our taste.

We got there a bit early, but definitely a tourist trap. Food quality and quantity were mid at best. Small portions for the price. Head away from the main strip and find another place.

We came in late afternoon so the place was quiet and empty but they were getting ready for the night shows. Food was good, everyone that worked there was friendly – they had a southern charm that I just looked right away. Food was good – I had the Po’ boy – never thought fried green tomatoes could taste sooooo good!!

The live music was sensational! The waitress not so much. In fact, if you see a waitress wearing tye dye walking your way, sit in another section. All the other waitstaff appeared superb.
