My wife and I finally had an opportunity to finally go eat at Ruan Thai on Friday 7/11/25. We used to eat regularly at the Tuscaloosa location and have missed it dearly. We were so glad to experience the same amazing food that we loved, gladly driving 35 minutes to get there! Service was great (I didn’t catch her name unfortunately) and the food was too. We shared a fried shrimp appetizer with a peach sauce. I had a bowl of the Thai wonton soup. My wife had the Pad See You with duck and I had the Pad Graprow with pork and was so excited that I forgot to take a photo of it. The inside decor was great and warm and inviting. We left to a beautiful sunset of downtown Greensboro.

Amazing food. Amazing atmosphere. You can tell from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave the owners/operators want you to truly enjoy your experience. Loved them in Tuscaloosa and love them in Greensboro.

Greensboro is so lucky to have such an authentic Thai restaurant. Both chefs are from Thailand (Bangkok and Chang Mai) and it shows in the flavors of the food. The Papaya Salad (one of my all time favorites) was absolutely perfect and delicious. A must try if you have never tried it before. I also tried a specialty dish (I can’t remember the name but it is the other picture I posted). Sticky noodles, with chicken and vegetables in a sauce bursting with flavors of lemongrass and ginger and a little bit of heat. I will always stop here anytime I am in town.

Are there twice in two days. A pork and spinach noodle dish for lunch that was just remarkable and a chicken and basil dish for dinner that was quite good as well. Friend enjoyed the pad Thai, very much. Highly recommend.

Slow down, dine-in,
and feel the love. Every time, and there have been many, we have eaten here, my husband and I feel like we’re on our first date. It’s always a pleasant experience being here because the owners have poured their heart and soul into this place. Van and Alp have created a unique space to serve carefully prepared, delicious, authentic Thai food. You can’t go wrong with the daily specials, but there are plenty of menu options. I particularly love the homemade curries, the curry puffs in a cup, and will order coconut ice cream anytime it is on the menu. Greensboro is so lucky to have this restaurant!

Ruan Thai in Greensboro, Alabama, is more than worth the drive. I used to go to Ruan Thai when it was located on the Strip in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. One of my friends and I have traveled down to Ruan Thai in Greensboro four times to enjoy the food, the atmosphere, and the incredible service. It is so good that we plan to go back ar least one more time this summer!

The food is beyond delicious and is made to order with adjustments offered to levels of spice and dietary options for meat, tofu, vegetable, as well. I ordered the crab puffs and the pad thai chicken and both were divine. The meal came with a coconut soup which was a tasy appetizer while we waited for our food. (And don’t worry, the wait is not long and more than worth it.) The atmosphere is lovely with brightly painted walls, lovely wood features, gold decorations, and is a lovely blend of modern and traditional. The owner and the staff are kind and courteous. The manager has taken time to speak to my friend and me a couple times and remembered who we were on our most recent trip. He chatted with us for a little while and his kind demeanor made the meal just that much more special.

I cannot urge you enough: please, take a trip to Greensboro, have lunch or dinner at Ruan Thai, you will not regret it. The only regret you could possibly have is the regret of not going there sooner!

It’s the same great food they’ve always served, only now served in Greensboro.

It’s a great restaurant with awesome service. The food was very good, the wait time was a little long but it was busy Sunday afternoon. The 2 young gentlemen who waited our tables were very polite and checked on us frequently. We had coconut soup on the house, Thai salad rolls (shrimp), and chicken fried rice.

Such an excellent change from the typical meat & sides or fast food restaurants that crowd our small towns! Food is delicious, appropriate portions & nicely plated. Restaurant space is a little small in downtown Greensboro but not overcrowded.
Hope soon they have a mango sticky rice dessert option because we might be there several times a week!
If I could add a suggestion, it would be to make the seating & ordering clearer. Upon our arrival, we found no signs or immediately available staff to inform us to order at the bar counter & then be seated. Did have to also get your own drinks. Both are fine, just unusual for a sit down restaurant. They just recently opened so still working out the kinks, but we will definitely make the drive again.

Delightful stop for lunch with family! Included photos of Thai Fried Rice and Emerald Noodles, both highly recommended and delicious.Other dishes enjoyed were Boat Noodles, Fireworks Noodles, and Pad Thai. Each dish could be customized as to spice level. Most of us chose mild with one brave soul getting Thai hot. Staff was very attentive and polite.
