Visited from out of town and wanted a quick lunch. What drew me to the place were the positive reviews and the photos of the food. However, I was very disappointed.
I’m almost certain they use can curry paste. My first taste of the curry, tasted like the Massaman curry I make at home.
The waiter asked what spice level and I ordered medium and my brother ordered the highest spice level and it didn’t have any heat to it, which makes me further believe it’s not custom made.
My beef on the Pad Thai was overcooked and very tough, I regretted getting that as my protein.
The hot peanut butter dressing was very strange and made the salad heavy since it was really thick.
The egg roll tasted store bought.
The sweet sauce that comes with the egg rolls and the appetizer did not complement the food.
Nothing was really outstanding besides the crispy basil chicken. I love that they put the rice in a cat mold, it makes it fun and does set them apart from a lot of other places.
The three flavor chicken was good, the chicken was still very moist and had a flavorful sauce to it.
Service was attentive and we always had our waters filled. The price point for lunch is reasonable for the amount of food. Our food came out fairly quick.
The restaurant was very clean and roomy.
I personally would not recommend this place as I feel there’s likely much better Thai out there. The restaurant seemed like it had its regulars, which is great.

Excellent restaurant. Service was quick and friendly. We enjoyed the Massamun curry, drunken noodles, Thai salad rolls, and the sticky rice dessert. Give this place a try.

This quiet little gem has some really awesome food. Servers are there to help you get just the right food combinations you desire. Place is crowded, especially good for date night and there’s always a seat. If you didn’t get the right heat level, ask for more chilies:)
Their peanut sauce is Denton’s best!

My favorite is the Thai fried chicken and wish I had just stuck to what I know. The goyza (potstickers)were ok, just ok which is sad beingni was so looking forward to what i normally enjoy alotl. I also ventured to try the Thai lo mein mild. It was still very spicy and the flavor itself not appeasing. What I did like is enough to keep me coming back more for that alone. Perhaps, ill try something else and will hit and I can come back and update my rating to a 4 or 5 as for now the 3 is generous.
Now, go get your grub on

My husband and I love Royal yum! It’s our favorite place in Denton. The Thai coffee is also very good! We haven’t tried anything we don’t like. They have great food, and good lunch deals throughout the week. The owner and staff are so sweet and hard working. They provide excellent service, great food, and our local! We love Royal yum!!

Run, don’t walk, for the winter lunch specials! Amazing deals. So much food and more importantly: FLAVOR. We had the yellow curry (w chicken) and street kra pao (with pork). Meals came with a spring roll with sweet/sour sauce + choice of salad (peanut dressing) or soup of the day (today’s was tofu). select spice level 1-5. Healthy enough portion sizes that we had leftovers!

Toodling around Denton for the day, we ended up finding this spot. Portions were exceptional. Flavor was exceptional. The service was average. But their AC was not cooling sufficiently which downgraded our experience a little. Parking was impeded by the construction on the street. Overall, I’d go back and we’d try the curry sampler! Our waitress told us it was enough for two. I had the green curry at a spice level 1 and it was just right. Everything was fresh and the rice was cute.

I’ve visited this restaurant many times, but this time I couldn’t stop praising them. The food, ambiance, service, and portion sizes are all amazing. My absolute favorites on the menu are their curries — they truly serve the best, and the massamun curry is a must-try. We also tried some noodles, and they were top-notch. Everything was perfect, and I truly hope their business continues to grow.
