Tried Roots for the first time and OMG have I been missing out. The atmosphere is a cool vibe, the service was on point, friendly and timed perfectly. Now the food…I can’t even say enough how freaking delicious the food was!!!
If you haven’t gone, GO!!

It was my first time dining at this restaurant. I don’t often crave for steak, but Roots would definitely won me over for their tasty steaks. They offer only medium to medium-rare. I would prefer something a little bit more done. But their steaks definitely do not disappoint. I have been to other steak houses in the Portland area. Roots beats other famous Portland steak houses by their flavor, tenderness, service, atmosphere and portion size. However, their menu items are quite pricey.
My steak was nicely cooked and seasoned. The mashed potato and veggies were excellent. They topped the steak with couple pickled onion rings which was quite refreshing. And don’t forget the garlic infused butter served with the steak. It was wonderful. I had my wedge salad while my husband had their soup of the day. It was a big salad which Ai appreciate. The blue cheese crumbles and salad dressing was fantastic. The chocolate mousse dessert was a piece of art. It was quite big and can be easily shared with another person.
The atmosphere inside was nice and modern in a warm sense. The servers were very attentive. I am not sure what brand of root beer do they serve but it was very good.

Loved the whole experience. Husband and I had our 3rd date night since our new baby arrived! I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of the steak. It looked so good and I was too hungry.

Roots has amazing cocktails & food. Service has always been stellar and consistent. The ambiance is comforting and modern—dim lighting, soft music, and romantic atmosphere. Rich was our first & favorite server. Roots is hands down one of the best places to have a romantic dinner in Camas. The booth seating is cozy. Restrooms are clean & well maintained. Parking is always plenty. I’ll post more pics as we continue to stop by… especially for the seasonal menu items.

I really wanted to like this place because the food was pretty good and the service was okay. However, I couldn’t enjoy a single bite. The restaurant had no background music or it extremely quite in the room near the kitchen, which meant every single noise from the kitchen—clattering plates, banging pots, and clinking glass—was amplified and ‘injected’ straight into my brain. It was incredibly stressful. I mentioned the noise level to the waiter, but they didn’t seem to care or offer to move us. Sadly, the lack of atmosphere ruined the dinner. At a restaurant in our town where a main course costs $70, I expect a curated atmosphere.

Unfortunately, this has been the third time in seven months that my food was not stellar at The Root. I’m not sure what it’s been going on there, but twice I’ve eaten seafood that reeked of ammonia. The first was the fish and chips and the second was the cioppino. I had a breakfast meal that was 100% inedible during a Saturday brunch. Very disappointing because it is my favorite neighborhood restaurant. The service is impeccable. The staff is lovely. The ambience is top-notch, the cocktails are other worldly , but something has happened regarding the food—at least my selections of entrées—that has been so disappointing. So much so that I have reduced my visits there to quarterly and the past 3/4 have been disappointing.

Roots. What can one say. The name. It sits in you. Like you’ve finally found the garden that you’d wish you had tended, with tastes of the season, and the care of those things served by someone you love. Roots sits it its own excellence in an area where amazing food is scarce. Yet, there she sits, not a pretentious Portland areas false narrative, just a community favorite for locals looking for hearty classics that are a cut above. Perfect for the hungry any day of the week, if you feel the need a bar setting with quality and a local vibe,

We had plans at another place but they were fully booked, so we ended up coming here on the recommendation of a friend. We were very pleasantly surprised. Everything was phenomenal, and the service was excellent. We’ll definitely be coming back.
One thing, I wish I’d asked the price of the special. I was shocked to see the rack of lamb was $75. It was worth it to be sure, the best I’ve ever had, but a surprise nonetheless.

I came here for the first time with my dad tonight as a very belated birthday & Father’s Day for him (his suggestion since he loves it here) and WOW, was I impressed. The service was amazing and the food & drinks were FANTASTIC. I ordered the 12oz ribeye with an Oregon Strawberry (drink) and my dad got the Dungeness crab and avocado with a side of prawns with a Tito’s and soda. I can’t remember the last time I’ve had such a flavorful, perfectly cooked, and tender steak. The veggies accompanying it were cooked and seasoned to perfection as well. I fully cleaned my plate, which I was not expecting to do with that much food. I will absolutely be returning and intend to tell all of my friends because I haven’t found a spot anywhere near here with such good steak until tonight!

The culinary innovation at Roots Restaurant & Bar is extraordinary. Every aspect of the restaurant from the decor, food, and cocktails truly display the chef’s vision of constantly plate fresh and seasonal PNW course. You will immediately see the relationship of the well-plated dish to its taste. For me, I just want to keep appreciating the plating instead of taking a bite.
The staff is friendly, welcoming, and thrives to deliver the best dining experience to its guests.
I recommend dining at Roots Restaurant & Bar as a destination to experience the great Pacific Northwest.
