Great little spot if you were looking for a bite to eat! It was very peaceful and the staff was great! The sausage patties were pretty thick and large!

If you want fast food that still tastes homemade, Rooster Tale is the place. The food is served fresh, the service is great, and the quality is excellent. Everything you expect from a good restaurant and a good meal. Truly grateful for the experience… 5 stars or more

My expectations were high from reading the reviews. I invited 3 friends to road trip for lunch. Arrived at 11, only one other table with 2 occupants, so no wait. It was chilly and windy so soup sounded good. There was no soup. Taco Tuesday but the taco meat wasn’t close to ready. My friend got the ham horseshoe. The fries were excellent as was the cheese sauce but barely any of the latter. The tiny bit of ham was ok. She got her food more than 5 minutes before the rest of us. My cowgirl burger was ok(tasty but cold)& rather pricey. The onion rings were excellent. No mushrooms for my friend’s omelet. Server was very pleasant but service was mediocre. Not sorry we made the trip but will continue our quest for the hidden gem (mom & pop diner) that’s out there somewhere…no more than an hour from Jacksonville.

This was the 3rd time I’ve been here and the service is terrible and that’s with no one there. It’s like they don’t see you ignore you or whatever.
They offer a salad bar which I’ve had and what I went for. No lettuce and when I asked waitress she said I have to go back and chop it and haven’t had time and just looked at me.
3 strikes and your out. We will never go back

We went to the Rooster Tail cafe yesterday. I had the country fried

steak dinner & my husband had a Phili- cheese steak sandwich with onion rings. There were 8 of us in our group. All of our meals were cooked to perfection. The staff was friendly & the food was delicious! Prices were great also! We will definitely be back!

Hello I have not yet had the honor of eating here yet. But as a little girl my grandmother Maxine my mother Jane and her husband at the time Danny ran what was called Maxines country kitchen. To the new owners I absolutely love the new name and it sounds like the atmosphere grandma would have wanted to continue her legacy. When I’m home I hear nothing but amazing things. Il be over in a few weeks to try it out and I’m very much looking forward to to it.

Our experience at Rooster Tail Cafe was truly joyous. It reminded us of the simple pleasures that bring us together: friendship, food, and conversation in the small, sleepy town of Modesto, Illinois, not far from Springfield. We enjoy getting away from the restaurant chains and supporting the mom-and-pop places that used to make up America. We will be back!
