Absolutely fantastic experience at Roma Restaurant in Juneau, Alaska!
The food was truly amazing every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. You can tell they take pride in every plate that comes out of the kitchen. The service was just as impressive friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish.
If you’re in Juneau and looking for a memorable meal, I can’t recommend Roma highly enough. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and make this your dinner spot. Highly recommended!
Our food arrived, and the best I can say is it was as ordered. Nothing special, nothing bad. We live in a very heavy Italian area and are Italian ourselves so perhaps were a little hard to please. We ate our whole meal and only saw the waitress once. Eventually I flagged her down to ask for the Port but instead got asked if we were ready for our check. She went to get it before I could hand her my card. She comes back to the table and I handed her my card and was met again with the eye roll. We paid and left.
This waitress is missing opportunities to make you money. We could and would have ordered rounds of drinks and desserts. We were never sold or even pitched. It was not busy.
My stomach is bubbling as I type this. Poor service aside, I get it that a single bartender and waitress may have difficulty running a restaurant alone and I’m sympathetic on the matter.
Let’s just get to the food….My partner ordered a sad caprese salad for $12 with mealy tomatoes and a quarter of a sprig of basil. I ordered a half roma salad to start and the chicken manicotti as my meal. Everything came out at once which I found odd. The salad didn’t have artichokes as advertised but whatever and it was mostly mushrooms and balsamic. As for the chicken manicotti…..whatever you do if you choose to go here after this review….dont get this meal. First and foremost, the chicken appeared to be canned and was sitting on top of the manicotti. I ate half the meal because I was hungry but oh my gosh I regret that. Tummy isn’t feeling too good. I guess I should have seen the $15 price next to a pasta dish with chicken and understood that it was going to be bottom of the barrel type ingredients. A huge reason my partner and I went here was because our favorite restaurant in Juneau was closed for an event (boca). I had eaten at Roma about 4 years ago and remember a tortellini dish that was amazing. They changed hands/chefs since and I’ve been wanting to try it. At this point, Roma has the facade of a nice restaurant but is your average small town crappy low grade Italian hole in the wall pizzeria. Can’t believe I just paid for canned chicken at a restaurant. If you want cheap Italian food with sub par standards, go here.
