The atmosphere was very welcoming. The service and staff were all kind and professional.
3 Star – Spare ribs were a little overdone and parts were difficult to chew. I did enjoy the flavor of bark on the ribs though.
3 Star – The brisket I am struggling with. The sauce on the brisket was sweet and with the burnt ends, just is sweet, followed by more sweet. There wasn’t much of a smoke ring. The bark was almost non-existent, looking and eating more like skin than a bark. The meat almost looked boiled. But it wasn’t dry really and wasn’t chewy either. It had a pretty decent flavor despite these things but nothing to make sure I come back for.
3 Star – the burnt ends, texture wise, were okay, but I don’t know if I’d categorize them as burnt ends. For my liking, the sauce on the burnt ends was way too sweet. I attempted adding other sauces to break through but it didn’t help.
4 Star- the Mac and cheese was really wonderful. Nice amount of pepper. It wasn’t too goopy but was just goopy enough. I really enjoyed the Mac.
I tried each of their sauces, and I really wasn’t a huge fan of any of them.
A little disappointing that the plates don’t come with drinks. I do have to say the amount of food I got for the price was pretty good.
3*** = Good but no separation from similar restaurants
4**** = Set themselves a part with unique food and I want to go back.
5*****= You have to go out of your way and make a special trip to try the deliciousness that is there!
I paired it with their mac & cheese and baked beans, and both sides were fantastic—rich, comforting, and full of flavor. The BBQ sauces they offer on the side were a nice touch too, especially the tangy and spicy ones.
The staff was super friendly, and the service was quick even though they were busy. It’s a relaxed, welcoming spot where you can tell they really care about what they’re serving. If you’re anywhere near the area, do yourself a favor and check this place out. The chopped BBQ alone is worth the trip!
We were greeted immediately and the place was very clean.
I ordered the baked potato with brisket and sour cream. It comes with beans and cheese sauce which I didn’t want.
Hubby ordered burnt ends sandwich and 2 sides. Corn bread and beans.
Everything was served quickly and my potato was just as I ordered. The brisket didn’t have any flavor, no visible spices, and no smoke ring (see picture). The consistency was more boiled than barbecue. The plain potato was great, actually baked vs microwaved. Temperature was warm.
Hubby’s sandwich was warm and the meat had no visible spices, nothing was burnt and had the consistency of being boiled and sauce added. The beans were sweet and the corn bread was inedible. We both tasted it and there was a chemical taste.
Bathrooms were spotless.
We will not be going back.
Go to Eric’s for real BBQ, get there early because they frequently sell out.
Remember if there’s no smoke there’s probably no fire and that’s what’s required for good BBQ.
We were very impressed with the flavor and texture of most of the meat (the shredded chicken was good at the restaurant but not so great leftover and the spare ribs were a little tough), but the smoked turkey was my favorite. I only tried a few sides (loaded mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, corn nuggets and corn bread) and they were all delicious. I want to come back and try all of the sides + dessert! We liked all of the sauces but the sweet mama and mustard sauce were our favorites. We also loved that they had Kool-Aid on tap.
We got one kids meal + the 5 meat platter that came with 3 sides + an extra side + 1 drink and our total was about $66, plus we made a second meal out of it the next night. We went on a Saturday when they opened at 11AM and it was not busy at all.
I definitely recommend checking out this spot if you love BBQ! Much better fast casual BBQ than Dickey’s IMO.
