This was our first visit, but definitely won’t be the last! When we walked in, first employee we encountered was Chase, and to say he was awesome is an understatement. From his very welcoming attitude, to helping us make decisions and recommending things for us, to just cutting up with us, he was great and definitely deserves a shout out! We ordered the three meat plate with whole hog, brisket and cheddarwurst sausage, with sides of fries and potato salad. The brisket was simply amazing, best we’ve ever tasted, the smoke flavor was off the charts, it was melt in your mouth great. The whole hog had excellent flavoring, spiced just perfect, made you want even more! The wife ate the cheddarwurst and absolutely loved them, and said her potato salad was excellent and tasted wonderful. Before we left we tryed some of skins, and I must say, they we spiced amazing with the rub, warm and fresh, definitely could have ate way more of the them and highly recommend them!! I definitely recommend getting a plate to try multiple meats you definitely won’t be left down, and make sure you have brisket on it, you won’t go wrong!! And if Chase is working you will definitely have great service! In closing I’ve tried quite a few other BBQ places of which I thought were amazing, but after trying Rodney Scotts, I doubt I will find a better brisket! I wished I could give more than 5 stars!

I eat here a somewhat regularly and everything that I’ve ordered has been at least above average and their potato salad is the best I’ve ever had from any restaurant. It’s worth it to go here just for their potato salad. The problems are 1) it’s the most expensive BBQ place around, 2) they don’t trim off huge chunks of fat, so it ends up being even more overpriced than it already is, and 3) they leave out items or give the wrong items too often.

We have had good dining experiences here several times. Most recently we had the Pig Out Salad. It was delicious and the lettuce was fresh. My only complaint was the brisket was slightly dry, but it tasted great. The apple hand pies are very tasty and not overly sweet. One thing I’ve noticed the few times we’ve been in is how often the kitchen staff is cleaning their area in the back. From my perspective this makes me feel like the kitchen staff and management is paying attention to food safety. I hope that impression is true.

Fourth time coming. Great food. Everything has been good however, the fresh baked apple pies are not available often. I was told by a server that they are not available everyday. This explains why after asking for the fourth time hey are not available. Bet is possibly at lunch when they open. Also explains why by it was not included in my past drive through order.

I’m visiting from Georgia and decided to go by this place because the one in Atlanta is the bomb! I’m trying to order at the speaker and the cashier had to keep putting me on hold, no big deal, you can tell that she was overwhelmed but she finally got the order. I pull around, she takes my $$ and I sit there for quite some time! Then the manager comes to tell me that they are out of ribs he was really nice about it. He says just pick another meat and I’ll take something off your ticket for the inconvenience. So I choose brisket, he gives me 3 small pieces, No discount and they left my apple pie off my order! I didn’t even call back to let them know. This is definitely not like Georgia!

Bright and clean. BBQ meat was good. Turnip greens were not good. I will never get them again. Had an odd fishy flavor. BBQ sauce wasn’t good, but the meat didn’t need it.

This is crazy, the second time I ordered at the Avondale location they forgot one of my sides. The second time I visited this location they forgot one of my sides. The food was great across both locations.

Rodney Scott’s has been on my bucket list for years. Finally got a chance to hit it today with my brother and nephew. The food was fantastic, the sauces were exquisite, and the staff were the exact type people I sought out when I was an executive chef myself. I cannot wait to go back.

New location in Trussville, so hubby & I tried it out. Catfish-excellent; fries-hot and crispy; baked beans-a lot like Costas, which was my fav; BBQ whole hog-had a weird old taste to it. Did not like it at all. Since it is a BBQ restaurant and the BBQ isn’t that good, we will probably not go back.
