My dad wanted catfish for his 81st birthday and that means Roderick’s! He has been coming here since they were in Pleasanton and it is the only place he goes for catfish. I have never had or even wanted to try catfish before but I felt like I needed to try it here. It did not disappoint! I had the catfish sandwich and it was amazing! The batter is light and crispy and not a bit greasy and the seasoning is spot on! I am a catfish fan now but only Roderick’s catfish!

I ordered the Mini Sampler platter and I was on the fence about the price before I ordered it but I was willing to give it a chance and I’m glad I did because it was worth it. It came with Ribs, Chicken, Sliced beef and Hot links plus 2 sides. While I waited for my order they asked if it was my first time there and I said yea then to my surprise when I left I found a Banana Pudding in the bag which was just as good as the BBQ. Portions were great, they have spicy or mild options for the bbq sauce and their service was great. It’s a BLACK OWNED business with good food and good people.

As I went to roderick’s BBQ, they weren’t to attentive to the customer. For one their baked beans were not all the way done, ribs were not cooked all the way kind of tough, and they’re hot wings were more like hot dogs but not even hot. The only thing that was kind of good was there sliced beef. They’re BBQ sauce was pretty good.

Don’t walk! RUN! if you haven’t been here before. The food is amazing! Peach cobbler is amazing! Kool-aid is we had the 2way. Mac was delicious, collard greens were tender and flavorful, potato salad was on point! Again, stop by. You won’t be disappointed! Very happy with my first experience.

Wonderful tastes abounding to tempt and delight even the most discerning of BBQ loving folks. Meats are tasty tender & seasoned with love, yummy to the end, especially the ribs. Sides are super yummy & partner so well & enhance meats flavors nicely, a true delight to your taste buds. Desserts, especially the banana pudding, are off the hook yummy! You must make a visit & get yourself a true taste of ‘The Town’s’ finest, best tasting & favorite overall BBQ, rooted right in our amazing, colorful, fabulous & diverse home of East Oakland. Too close to not try and love like you do your Grandmas!!

Amazing food and peach cobbler. The bbq was absolutely amazing. Everything was tender and flavorful. The gentleman who helped me was so nice and friendly. I had been following them on Instagram and have been wanting to go. Went to get my dad’s birthday dinner and we enjoyed it so much. Make sure you run don’t walk to get you some amazing bbq and dessert. The peach cobbler was so good!!! I will definitely be back and this is now our go to spot.
