Characterized as New Orleans’ most unusual bar, the Rivershack Tavern is known to have been, at various times, a grocery store, a bar, a restaurant, a package liquor store, and a pharmacy. The shack was thrust into the national spotlight when old asbestos shingles were removed from the sides of the 100-year-old building. Underneath, miraculously preserved for over half of a century, were large, vibrantly colored, hand-painted advertisements from the 1940s in virtual mint condition!
Funky roadhouse by the levee with live music, Cajun pub grub & a bar with a sizable beer selection.

Super friendly staff, our server was awesome! The Gumbo was delicious, the PoBoy was great the half and half fried oysters and shrimp were delicious. The portions were huge even if the shrimp was small.

This place is close by the job and I wanted something different. I took an extra 15 minutes for lunch. Not a good place for a quick bite. But the food was delicious. I had the Bleu cheese crumble burger. One of the few places that offer this delicacy. Sweet tea was good, not great. Service was good. I highly recommend this spot if your in the area. Most of the time it is packed out or busy.

Waited at a dirty table for 20 minutes. Ordered drinks and water. 20 minutes later, placed food order. They brought one meal and drinks. No water. Asked 2 more times for water. Still waiting. Finally after my husband was finished with his meal, they brought mine 25 minutes later. Food was a 5. Fish and chips. Very oily catfish. Fries were great. Absolutely the worst service I’ve experienced in NOLA.

Awesome restaurant with a fun atmosphere. We enjoyed food, drinks and live music while there. It is conveniently located close to Southport Hall so go dine and drink then catch a show or just stay for their live entertainment. Service was good.

Been here a few times and the staff is always great. Friendly and fast. The food is delicious. I got the chef salad the first time I came and it was so good. Fresh. Great price but a LOT of food. Got the tenders and fries this time and they are fresh- not frozen! Delicious. Lots of parking and love the outdoor spot. Welcoming to pups too.

Oh my God I just had the best hamburger. I searched for deals on Tuesdays for hamburgers near me and they came up. Even though I’ve eaten there at least 50 times I’ve never tried the hamburger. I love a burger that fits perfectly on the bun with a little bit of meat hanging over. It was a half pound. And who in the world has tater tots, they do. I don’t know what they fry them in but they were very very crispy, no oil taste at all.
