Small chain restaurant in some of the smaller towns north east on the metroplex. The building is an old bank building in downtown Princeton. Given that, the building has a lot of character but it’s clean and well kept. This is our go to place for great Mexican food. We have never had anything we didn’t love. Very Highly recommend.

Food came out cold and had no flavor. The chips were stale and the salsa had no taste. After finishing, we had to ask three different people to check our bill and still waited 10 minutes. Very disappointing experience.

We decided to try this place out because of good reviews from folks around Princeton. Right when we were first seated, we noticed the tables are way too close together, really cramped in there, so from the beginning it was uncomfortable. We ordered food, and my wife’s taco was dripping grease like someone left the tap open. Then came out a bug from the taco. When I asked for a manager, our server came back and said theres no manager there. All they did was not charge us for the tacos. My wife lost her appetite. I usually tip 20-30% at restaurants, this is the first time in the longest time I didnt tip. I even felt bad for not leaving a tip. My daughter had to use the bathroom, she went in and said nope, I’d rather hold it and risk having an accident until we get home.

My family and I go to this establishment at about 715 at night and everything was good. We Ordered an ate salsa Then about 30 minutes later, the food came I got a burrito with a double rice no bean the burrito gets put down on the table in front of me And the rice came to the table a little bit later and the lady goes to put it down and I noticed that it’s my side order for my meal and I grab the plate from her to signify that that’s my side for my meal and one of my Family members says to the waiter “we didn’t order that” I forgot to mention the server just went into the back with my sides of rice…. So I was left with the smallest burrito without my sides I ordered the double rice was on the receipt and everything it’s not like I messed up the order or anything Also, good luck on trying to get a refill on any type of drink that you order , The servers do not come around and ask you if you want to refill So I had to suck on ice and cover my burrito in salsa so It was Soggy enough to slide down my throat, so I don’t choke on the food Since I couldn’t get a refill on my Dr Pepper , That sums up my one star review

I ordered the pupusa dinner and it was delicious! My son didn’t like the hard taco bc of the juices running out of it, but he still liked the flavor. Husband tried a chicken dish which he really liked. The chips and salsa were very good IMO. Light and crispy.
The only downside was how long we waited to get our check at the end. Server was nowhere to be found for about 20 minutes and my husband asked 3 different people 3 different times for our check and to-go boxes. None of them came through. Then our server resurfaced and he was able to flag her down and get our check.
Atmosphere was lacking just bc the tables are all so close together.
I plan on visiting again. The food was delicious.

Rivers’s is located in the heart of downtown Princeton, TX. ️ Its location used to be the old bank . The food is absolutely yummy , refreshing ️, and gives you a splash of something unique from all those chain Tex-Mex restaurants.
We first ate here back in Spring/Summer of 2023, and we loved it then. Today was our second visit, and while still good, a few things stood out that made us drop it from a perfect 5-star rating.
The chips and salsa are just okay ♂️—not bad, but nothing special. However, the shrimp cocktail is AMAZING! It has a little bite ️, and I love the hint of jalapeño in the flavor. Definitely a must-try!
I had the Molcajete —a massive combination of mozzarella cheese , sautéed garlic onions , peppers , shrimp , sausage , chicken , beef , chorizo ️, and roasted nopales in a rich tomato sauce . It came with charro beans , guacamole , shredded cheese , pico de gallo , and tortillas . The flavors were bold and delicious , but it was a LOT of food—definitely a dish to share or tackle with a huge appetite.
My wife had the beef fajitas , which were tender, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. A solid choice!
Overall, still a great spot with some standout dishes, but the chips and salsa being underwhelming and the sheer size of some entrees make it slightly less of a 5-star experience than before. ⭐ Still worth a visit!

This is as authentic as i had since living in Mexico (besides the texmex stuff which I’ve never tried). Highly recommend the torta. I’ve tried all of them and they all are a hit. Same with the quesadillas (tried all versions). I just wasn’t crazy about the fries, they weren’t crispy enough for me. But nobodies to a Mexican restaurant for fries so not really knocking them for that because everything else has been amazing.

This restaurant is very clean. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Our waitress was bilingual. The food was very delicious and is authentic Mexican cuisine. Street parking. Come out and enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine, and the attentive staff here at Rivera’s. A hidden gem for sure. We will be coming back.

I have been waiting for this place to open. It’s right in my little home town. It’s a much needed restaurant with not many other options around other than fast food. They have separate locations from what I hear, so they aren’t new to the restaurant business.
The place is very small but they make up for it in excellent service and the food is great! I had the chili relleno with guacamole, chips and salsa. It was sweet tea for the drink, it was already sweetened perfectly. They don’t have a license yet to sell alcohol but mentioned that they should have it soon. I would give this place 2 thumbs up!

Solid small town feel. Mixed reviews on food. Correct in house, take out was wrong but mistakes are understandable with new staffing and almost busy timing. They season the food, more than most local places but not quite to my taste. I’m nick-picking at this point, they do good. Love the team and I want to see them succeed
