Sitting in Bagel Nation Folly Rd. for the last time. The only reason I’m here this time is I am using a freebee given to me because the last visit sucked. It started with the cashier who threw my change on the counter which then to the floor, I’m chasing coins trying to collect my change, no apology or recognition of what she had done. Bagel was ok but haphazardly put together. Lots of better bagel shops around.

I have been going to Bagel Nation since they opened. Lately have been very disappointed on quality and quantity. The bagels use to be fresher and plenty of cream cheese. Considering you are paying around $5 for it. The strawberry cream cheese doesn’t even taste like strawberries anymore. Sad to see a small business go from most delicious bagels to this.

Looking for breakfast / brunch in Folly beach? Go anywhere else! The kitchen was so unsanitary and the service was awful. Look at the mysterious piles of bacon sitting in old grease, room temperature eggs, and the phone sitting in the food preparation space. Didn’t even feel comfortable eating our meal and felt extremely unwelcome. Avoid this place at all costs, I highly recommend the point break coffee next door it’s way better and the service is outstanding.

I went in after a friend recommended that I give them a try. I was not overly impressed. The bagel and cream cheese were mediocre at best. The employee that took my order was the highlight of the visit. She was very friendly! She is the reason for the 4 star review.

One of the dirtiest restaurants I’ve ever been in. The atmosphere is dark and dingy. Seats torn floors dirty. Absolutely horrendous conditions in the kitchen. As you can see from my photos, very unsanitary. Every surface is covered, phones in the preparation space, eggs left out for long periods of time, mysterious old piles of bacon sitting in dirty grease. We didn’t even feel comfortable eating our order after taking a peek at the kitchen. On top of everything customer service was terrible. I will never be back and would never recommend this place to anyone visiting Charleston/ Folly Beach.

Edit: a “bagel with lox” should actually have more than 1/8th coverage with lox, the expensive protein on here was an afterthought, not even a whole bite of smoked salmon, the sprouts and capers and cream cheese are barely there either, your staff don’t care. If we had eaten in I would have sent this back.

I ordered my food and then started looking around.. I found multiple German roaches crawling around where they store the bagels! Then I started looking around more and noticed that EVERYTHING was filthy! Mold on most of the surfaces.. It looks like they haven’t cleaned anything in weeks… I have attached pictures so you could see for yourself. ALSO non of the employee’s handling the food were wearing hair nets! I will be contacting DEHEC and hopefully they will shut this place down until it is SAFE TO REOPEN! Disgusting

When I say this was the best bagel I’ve ever had in my life, I mean it. Exceptional service, exceptional bagels. If you’re in the area and are considering bagels from here, do it. You won’t be disappointed!!!

Don’t let the line out of the door discourage you from eating here. It moves quickly (or at least it did this morning) and I found it to be worth the wait. I’m not a bagel connoisseur but the bagels looked good and tasted even better.

Over the years I found bagel nation to be a dependable location to get a quick bagel and get back on the road. Today I chose those this location for a sit down breakfast and was pleased by the quality, portions, and enthusiasm of everybody that woks here. The cook Travis does such high volume work and it arrives at your table a masterpiece of culinary bliss.
