I have eaten a lot of steaks and this was the best steak restaurant i ever had in my trip to italy, not just in firenze. The steak was absolutely amazing. Was cooked perfectly medium-rare and had a bit of smoky flavour which adds another level of flavour, as well as the crust. The steak was also very tinder and juicy. As for the pasta, i ordered a fresh truffle pasta and pesto pasta. Although the pasta wasn’t al dente, the sauce enhanced the flavour of the pasta. The truffle of the pasta was also very rich and the sauce from the pesto pasta was also very creamy and flavourful.
The service was spectacular. The workers had great smile on their faces and was really polite. The sommelier was very knowledgeable about wine and was highly competent.
The seating and decoration were great. The tables gave me a comfortable dining experience and the atmophere was soothing. A great restaurant and definitly recomened.

15th century building with unreal wine list and cellar. Bisteak Fiorentina was unreal. Truffle buratta was cloaked in freshly shaved black truffle and perfect. Ribolita was fantastic.

Fantastic wine, food og vibe! We had a great and knowledable waitress as well. But I think they forgot about us after our meal. I still recommend. What a perfect start to our Florence visit!

The food in bocanegra was exceptional. We had the fiorentina and the tagliolini with truffle that were a dream. The pasta with ragu and the carpaccio where also really nice but not in the same level in flavor. The only thing that I didn’t like so much was that our table was not ready when we arrived and they put us in a table next to the bathroom when another one next to the window was empty but not clean. We asked them to change and of course they arranged it but i felt that for the level of the restaurant and the price that should be arranged by them from before. Our pasta came really late after the appetiser and at the end we ordered a dessert that they didn’t give it for free for the delay they just put more for us that i found a little weird after all the food that we ate and the bill we made for two people. Generally a good experience but i think you should take out the tables next to the bathroom door.

Blatant racism. They ruined our special day.
We had a deeply upsetting experience at this restaurant.
We ordered as usual — an appetizer, soup, and steak. After finishing our first course, we waited over 40 minutes. No one cleared our plates, no one checked in. The waiter who had taken our order was nowhere to be found, and the rest of the staff treated us like we were invisible.
When we politely asked about the delay, a short guy with a beard mocked us, laughed, and even tried to “teach” us how to order food properly. Seriously?
We’ve been traveling around Italy and had perfectly fine experiences at every other restaurant. Only here were we treated this badly — ignored, ridiculed, and looked down on for no reason.
It was humiliating and disrespectful.
We told them clearly we no longer wanted the food. But instead of acknowledging that, they tried to force us to eat it anyway — as if we didn’t have a choice.
That crossed a line. It was aggressive, dismissive, and made us feel completely powerless.
This wasn’t just poor service. This was targeted and unacceptable behavior.
The waiter who took our order, and especially the bearded man who mocked and lectured us, owe us a sincere apology — by email or any means.
Honestly, after this, we felt completely unwelcome.
No one — no matter who you are — should be treated this way. Don’t go here

This was one of our favourite meals in Italy, not just in Florence. The food was amazing, especially the “bread soup” and truffle pasta!! Oh and the tiramisu was fantastic too. The service was great and the atmosphere was lovely. I’d highly recommend you check this one out!!

Our experience was much better than we had hoped. The attentive staff was helpful and friendly. Alex was awesome. His obvious love of food and expansive knowledge of wines really set him apart from other servers. He suggested wine to match with the menu choices he helped us make.
