Early morning fire destroys Reno’s Roadhouse in Wise – WCYB
Reviews
Main Course: Chicken had good flavor, but a little overcooked. Half slab of ribs was overcooked, and spread with BBQ sauce on top. the steak was asked to be middle well, bit came back definitely well done. The white cheddar Mac and cheese is a plus. The Coleslaw is good too, but a tiny bit runny. Katy service was excellent to our liking. She was very tentative and polite. This place 4.3/5
The food was ok. The best thing we had were the rolls and cinnamon butter, along with the garlic parm wings.
The kitchen’s attention to detail left room for improvement, particularly when it came to honoring special requests. For example, condiments were added to a dish despite a clear request to omit them, a small but avoidable oversight. Additionally, service, while warm and genuinely pleasant, was on the slower side. This delay, paired with a casual atmosphere, might leave diners waiting longer than expected for a steakhouse of this style.
Overall, Reno’s Roadhouse excels in the core offering of a great steak but stumbles on the execution of finer details. It’s a spot worth visiting if you’re willing to overlook some hiccups in exchange for flavorful, well-prepared meat and friendly, if slightly delayed, service.
The baked beans are a must eat! I like the ribeye over the sirloin I was talked into trying. Some say no difference, I say H U G E difference! I have yet to try their desserts-maybe tomorrow?❤️
My only complaint is it’s too dark in the dining area. My 87 yr old Mother brought that to my attention. God bless us all!
My spouse had the teriyaki chicken, which she thought was just okay. I had the nachos and the same thing, just okay.
Our waitress was nice and attentive.
According to Google they’re open until 10PM, their door says they’re open until 11PM. We got there around 8:50PM and were seated and given menus without anything being said. When our waitress took our drink and appetizer order, and then told us they close at 9PM so we’re lucky and would probably be their last table. I felt horrible for this because I’m not that kind of person. I understand wanting to close up and leave for the night and how frustrating it can be when someone comes in super close to closing so I try not to do that. Hence, why I looked the hours up and then saw the hours on the door and figured we had plenty of time.
I’d like to note that several people came in after we did and didn’t have anything said to them. The bar was also still packed. Our waitress was nice but I’m sorry the food for the most part was horrible. Our appetizer, the Rosebud, was pretty burnt/overcooked and barely cut. The outer part also seemed as if it was cooked with the onion skin left on.. or maybe it was just so burnt to a crisp that it tasted like that. We both ordered steaks. I ordered mine rare and my sister ordered hers medium rare. Hers came out beyond well-done and mine was more medium rare. Which wasn’t a big deal with me, it happens.
My problem with the steaks however is that the meat just… Wasn’t good. Very fat/gristly and could have used some seasonings other than salt. My only other complaint was that my baked potato came out luke-warm. It still tasted good though! The macaroni and cheese was probably the best part of the entire meal. Overall, this was just an extremely disappointing visit.
