An old-guard Italian fixture, Renato’s trades on continental polish and Palm Beach expectations. The room, softly lit to the point of gloom, aims for Tuscan romance but lands closer to theatrical dusk. On a cold evening, a stubborn draft from the entrance—unresolved despite requests—cast a chill over what was meant to be a polished business dinner, a reminder that comfort is part of hospitality.
The opening round was classic and competent: Carpaccio di Manzo sliced thin and clean, Prosciutto e Melone predictably pleasant, Polpo Arrostito tender but muted, and Carciofi alla Romana agreeable yet forgettable. The kitchen’s restraint continues with the mains. Risotto all’Aragosta leaned rich but lacked the sweetness one hopes for at this price. Chitarra ai Frutti di Mare was serviceable, the pasta cooked correctly but without spark. A special fettuccine and Petto di Pollo Ripieno delivered professionalism rather than pleasure. Bread service—including gluten-free—was thoughtful, service steady and correct, sparkling water quietly refilled.
Bathrooms are notably tight, parking predictably difficult, and prices—while expected for the address—outpace the experience. Renato’s isn’t bad; it’s just underwhelming. For me, it’s unlikely to merit a return visit.

The only note is that the chicken was a bit on the drier side, but everything else—from the atmosphere to the staff—more than made up for it. Overall, a lovely dining experience and definitely worth returning.
We had such a memorable experience. Jefferson, our waiter, made the entire evening feel effortless. He was attentive without hovering, warm without being overly familiar, and truly elevated the dinner through genuine, thoughtful service. It is rare to encounter someone who understands that great hospitality is about anticipation and care, and he executed that beautifully.
I also want to sincerely thank the manager for accommodating us on an incredibly busy night, even though we did not have a reservation. There was no attitude, no hesitation, and no sense that we were inconveniencing anyone, which sadly has become uncommon. It was handled with grace and professionalism, and it set the tone for the entire evening.
It was refreshing to be reminded that real hospitality still exists in restaurants.
The food was absolutely delicious and felt especially perfect for a chilly Palm Beach night. The entire experience felt welcoming, polished, and genuinely enjoyable.
You took our cherished duck confit and 1/2 duck off your menu; now rather than being a Continental dining experience you’re just like every other me-too Italian restaurant. I settled for the veal scallopini Marsala. Uh oh. It was made only with portobello mushroom—and topped with…cheese! Was this an attempt at trying to hide the lack of flavor and nuances from the way-too-subtle and rubbery portobello? The spinach and mash was divine however yes. The service was lovely, professional and friendly as usual, nothing is a problem ever, thank you always for that.
So I looked back at the menus online and they show seared Fois gras, the ducks, other interesting dishes. Ok maybe you pulled out a “special” one-time menu for Valentines Day?
Please tell us you’ll be serving the lunch and dinner menus once again that you have online If that is not the plan—can you please make it so Don’t forsake your old and loyal customers and the reasons we come, please at least put duck confit back on the lunch menu, put the seared fois gras and the half duck back on too
A special thanks to Thomas, who went above and beyond to ensure every detail was just right. His attention to detail and warm hospitality truly made the evening memorable. The servers were equally outstanding—attentive, friendly, and incredibly efficient. Every course was served with perfect timing, and any request was met with a smile.
The food was phenomenal—beautifully presented and full of flavor. Our team left the event feeling thoroughly impressed and appreciated.
That said, there were a few aspects of my recent visit that were disappointing. First, the atmosphere felt surprisingly uptight, even though we were seated outside. I expected the outdoor seating to feel more relaxed and casual, but instead it seemed rigid and formal, which made it a little uncomfortable for a leisurely meal.
The service was another mixed experience. While the staff was polite, there was a significant mistake with our wine order. The waiter brought me and served the wrong bottle, which was frustrating and disrupted the flow of the evening. Mistakes happen, of course, but the way it was handled didn’t feel ideal—it took a bit of effort to get it corrected.
Overall, Renato’s delivers on food quality and has the potential for a great dining experience, but the atmosphere and service issues prevented it from being truly exceptional. With a bit more attention to the guest experience and a more relaxed vibe, this could easily be one of the best spots in West Palm Beach.
