Regal Abyssinia in Falls Church was fantastic. We ordered the veggie platter, tibs, and kitfo, and everything was absolutely delicious and full of authentic flavor.

The veggie platter was beautifully prepared with a great variety—rich, well-seasoned lentils and vegetables that were comforting and vibrant, not bland. The injera was fresh, soft, and perfect for scooping up every bite. The tibs were tender and flavorful, served hot and seasoned perfectly with that classic Ethiopian spice profile. And the kitfo was a standout—bold, buttery, and expertly seasoned.

Great portions, welcoming service, and an overall warm vibe. Highly recommend if you want real Ethiopian food done right—we’ll definitely be back!

This place is a gem. They recently renovated and the decor is upscale. But I care much more about the food and service and these folks have an excellent product. I ordered the Awaze Tibs (and a house salad), and it was superior – spicy and juicy and with some soft and spongy injera. The quality of the beef was excellent, very tender. My party also ordered the veggie platter, and they loved it. My wife had the Bozena Shiro, and I could tell she enjoyed it. We had plenty leftovers because the generous portions. The staff paid good attention to us, helping us with recommendations from the menu. We’ve had Ethiopian before, but I was delighted to get some pointers to make sure we loved our choices. They recommended a honey wine (not like a mead) which was not like anything I ever had before. Very sweet, which was to my liking and complemented the Tibs very well. The wine is unique, and I would recommend trying it if you enjoy sweet flavors. This place deserves a line out the door. The food is 5 stars, the service is excellent, and the prices are very reasonable for what you’re getting (our bill was $100 plus tip for 3 entrees, a side salad and 2 glasses of wine, with leftovers of everything). You could spend this at a chain and have a forgettable experience, or come here for an upscale dinner to remember. I have extended family coming for the holidays, and my mother-in-law said we should all come back.

(Also, I’m a wheelchair user, the restaurant has an accessible parking spot nearly right in front. The dining has plenty of tables, but the staff made room for easy access. I did not use the restroom. Happy eating!)
