Well. It was an experience. We drove a hour to get there, did not get seated for about 45 minutes. Ordered basically right away… food took another hour. The steak was delicious. I was bummed to be eating a steak with no nice alcoholic drinks… no wine? That’s surprising to me with a steak and seafood place. Also, maybe I’m just used to “non-country” restaurants but I find it very bad service to put pitchers on the tables instead of having waitstaff come around to refill drinks. I was a waitress. Having that ability to take the time to check on your tables, get them refills, etc. is important. It doesn’t sit well with me for someone to come take my order, drop a pitcher of sprite next to me and only come back to drop off my order and give me the check. Wouldn’t waste my time going again. But the steak was great and the cats outside were sweet.

We had reservations for 7pm. Got seated at 7:35. Our food started arriving around 8:45 which was an hour and 45 minutes after our reservation. I ordered the seafood platter. Everything on it was extremely overcooked. The scollops were about the size in diameter of a tube of chapstick and were so rubbery that I had to spit it out to keep from choking. Oysters were hard and dried out. The whole platter was awful. It should have never left the kitchen to be served to anyone. The 7 members of our party that ordered steak were satisfied. This will probably be my last trip there.

We have been coming to this restaurant for over 40 years, but for the past year, we have tried to visit at least twice a month, a 50 mile (one way) drive. The soup and salad bar is one of our all time favorites. We always look forward to the complimentary bread and cheese spread.

Tonight will be the last time we will eat here. The last time we went we actually had to get up and leave after waiting 1 1/2 for our steaks. Decided to give them another chance tonight. After waiting over an 1 hour we got steaks that were so tough we couldn’t eat them. Crab Chowder is not the same. It is terrible. Why change something that is working? Got tired of waiting for our check so we finally went to the desk and demanded them. Since changing ownership this place has steadily gone down hill!!!
