Rear End Gastropub & Garage

Social Profile:

We are a modern restaurant housed in an automotive garage that dates back to the 1940s. During that pre-interstate period of America, people and families often traveled across storied highways such as Route 40, Lincoln Highway or Route 66, encountering regional foods and a variety of cultural influences along the way. In that spirit, our seasonal menu is a ‘road trip’ that explores some of those mid-western, southern, south-western, and western dishes and techniques. Just like a garage, we tinker with and adjust them to put together something that will make your trip to see us memorable.

I’ve been here a few times and have enjoyed consistently good food. If you want to go out but are watching your budget, this is the place for you. Their menu has a lot of options at great prices for today’s economy. Lots of beer options whether you want bottled, cans or tap.
Favorite: Nashville Hot chicken sandwich. This is not Nashville Hot in name only, this sandwich means business!
Second Fav: The fish sandwich is huge!

After a busy day in Pittsburgh, we stopped here for dinner, based of the recommendation of a friend. And it was worth the trip. We only had one minor complaint, but it was resolved quickly.

I recently chose Rear End Gastropub & Garage as the venue for my 40th Birthday party. There could not have been a better choice. Jessie was extremely easy to work with and every request was met with a yes. The food was great and afterwards, many of my friends made a point to mention this to me. The waitstaff was also incredible. We had a group of about 85 people and they did an amazing job making sure everyone got their drinks quickly and correctly! Nearly all of our guests had never been here and they loved it! The front outdoor space, mixed with part of the restaurant, was the perfect amount of room. I would highly recommend them for your next event or a night out to eat!

Great place. We love the good here… the beers are pretty darn good too! Had their smash burger and Southwest Caesar salad today… neither disappointed!! Been here a few times now and will definitely be back when we’re in the area

Greeted and seated upon arrival. Friendly staff. Clean seating and restrooms. Will recommend and definitely be back.

Food arrived quickly and hot. Portions are large enough you could take half home if you can manage to stop eating it.

**Update**
I visited Rear End again and gave them another try.
Updating my review: Food 4 ⭐ (from 3), Service & Atmosphere 5 ⭐ (from 4). I’m keeping my overall rating -4 ⭐.
My recent visit was better than my last, almost a year ago. Service was politer and more attentive. The food was less greasy and tasted much better. I really enjoyed the onion straw appetizer.

Rear End is in a great location. They have a great atmosphere and they are fun to visit. I’ve been there a handful of times. My first visit when they first opened, I thought the food was great! Since then it has been okay. Their drinks are too strong for me. On my most recent visit we tried the special appetizer of fried plantains. They were not so good. Greasy and a bit burnt on one side. I also had the chicken tenders and fries. They were very good. Probably the only thing I would order there again.

One of my favorite restaurants!! The food is delicious, reasonably priced, and big portioned. The draft list is always filled with the best breweries around. Staff is fun and friendly and very attentive. I’ve had 5+ meals here and they’ve always been excellent.

The layout of the building is really cool as I’m a car guy I love garages. They definitely killed it for decorating the place. The food I was not a fan of, my buddy and I got the Crash Burger and we both had upset stomachs by the end of it. Not giving up on the place just cause of one experience. I’ll be back for seconds and to hopefully turn my review for the better.

Nice open, relaxing atmosphere and dog friendly. Food came out rather quickly once ordered and it was delicious with vegetarian options as well.
Highly recommend the spicy margarita and sample a few beers to pick your favorite!
