It was so nice to come to a restaurant where I knew my food sensitivities would be accommodated. I had the gluten-free fettuccine carbonara and it was delicious. Noodles and bread are both a bit dense, which isn’t terribly uncommon with GF food. It was so nice to have pasta at a restaurant (most chain restaurants use a noodle that has corn in it, which I am unable to eat.) I chose to end my meal with a warm celebration cookie, which was a perfect end to the meal.
The only downside was a couple of times when folks came into the restaurant you could tell someone had been smoking right outside the door. The wait staff told us to let them know next time and they will shoo people away from the door.
We were able to park in the lot behind the restaurant and were lucky enough to not have to move it for the person we parked behind.
I’m looking forward to coming back and trying more things the next time we’re in town.
(They have glutinous pasta too, and my spouse enjoyed their shrimp fettuccine. )
Our server was quick and friendly. I also was able to purchase gf bread & pizza crust to go. Wish I had this place at home!
staff was quirky and nice! the environment was friendly and our waiter seemed like he was friends with everyone in the room. The BOH staff was also present and efficient!
We will DEFINITELY be back, next time with family! This will for sure be a place to visit when we have family in town. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Now, if you go downstairs, they’ve got banquet seating for about 150 people. It feels like you’re walking into a dungeon, but instead of chains and torches, it’s just tables and chairs. Which is honestly scarier, because you realize they could actually fit your entire extended family down there.
They also have a kid zone. And by “kid zone,” I mean a place where you can let your kids disappear while you pretend you’re enjoying adult conversation. They’ve got video games, foosball, air hockey, basically everything you wish you had in your own basement, except you don’t have to hear the noise.
We came here because everything on the menu can be made gluten-free. And when I say “everything,” I mean it. It’s like the Cheesecake Factory of gluten-free menus. We only tried a small sample, but the garlic bread was outstanding. Next time, I’m going for the mozzarella sticks and cheese bread, because if you can make gluten-free bread taste that good, cheese sticks should be a layup.
Chad Thunderstone, the star of Explosion Cop 3, once ate here and was famously quoted saying, “I don’t know what gluten is, but Razzi’s seems to have defeated it. If they can make garlic bread taste this good without it, I’m starting to think gluten was just a rumor.”
I ordered a calzone, which is a risky move when you’re gluten-free. And listen, it tasted great. But it was basically just a pizza folded in half. Which, technically, is what a calzone is. I just wanted a little more effort. Like, close up the edges, give me a surprise filling. Instead, it was like the chef said, “You know what a calzone is? It’s this. Done.” Still delicious, but my quest for a real gluten-free calzone continues.
Everyone else in our group loved their food: salads, pizzas, pasta, even the dessert brownie. And yes, that was gluten-free too. It’s rare to find a place where the gluten-free dessert isn’t just “fruit.”
One knock, and it’s a big one: if you’re mobility impaired, the accessible bathroom stall isn’t actually accessible. Wheelchairs don’t fit. Which feels like the kind of detail you’d want to get right.
Parking: Razzi’s technically has free parking, but you have to drive around back and through a paid lot just to find it. The stalls are tucked right up against the building and so deep that if you park behind someone, you basically have to hope they finish eating before you do. The staff even suggests letting them know if you’re blocked in, so they can track down the person in front. It’s less “parking lot” and more “trust exercise.”
But overall, Razzi’s is a gem. Great food, family-friendly chaos, and a basement that doubles as a medieval banquet hall. Five stars.
Also, as a side note.. If you are ever craving a chop salad. This is the only place you should consider. Best chop in Seattle, hands down.
I had gf mozzarella sticks, garlic bread, a calzone, a bite of the 4 cheese pasta, and a dessert. The gf mozzarella sticks, bread, and calzone all came with a marinara sauce to use as dip. I found the gf garlic bread and mozzarella sticks underwhelming as well as the calzone crust. All were too dry/bland and made better by the dip – as in palatable/just OK. The gf garlic bread was dense brown bread with a distinct lack of buttery goodness or garlic flavor. I’m sure it had been added but the bread flavor and texture overwhelmed any moisture or topping flavor. Salt on top made it marginally better. The filling of the gf calzone was delicious. The crust & filling tasted much better cold later as leftovers than hot while dining. The bite I had of the gf pasta was perfect and I regretted not ordering a gf pasta dish instead. GF dessert was also dry, but also was an item that should be room temperature or slightly warmed but came cold making the chocolate and the other parts that should have been soft hard and difficult to bite into. I shouldn’t have to box up my food and wait until after the drive home and a cute-meet with my microwave for my dessert to finally be ready to eat when it was a dine-in order.
I do not know if the little wooden food sticks poked into the food to label dishes gluten free when our food came was only because we had someone at our table who ordered from the main menu or if that is a protocol for all dishes. If for all, that is great, as it prevents mix ups and accidentally being served something with gluten.
4 stars are good service on a very busy Saturday night, wide variety of gluten-free options, labelling for additional dietary restrictions and to prevent cross-contamination or serving incorrect item. The lack of a star is because the non-pasta gf dish options were disappointing (bread, appetizer, calzone, dessert), especially for the price. I was also annoyed the waitress did not mention during the initial order that the gf pasta order also came with gf garlic bread. There was definitely a moment of oh didn’t need that separate appetizer order regret when the pasta arrived with even more garlic bread.
I would have left even less stars if I hand’t been given a bite of the pasta dish. Next time I know to order the pasta AND not to order gf garlic bread from the appetizer menu because the gf pasta order comes with gf garlic bread. I will also know to get any calzone to go and eat it after it has cooled for better flavor and texture, and to be more vocal about if my dessert needs to be adjusted even though I feel like it shouldn’t be something that has to be asked.
