Every dime spent was worth it because the food was unbelievably amazing. Everything that touched our table was beyond good and very tasteful. This is the first United States based Jamaican restaurant that I can honestly say taste better then Scotchies in Jamaica. Hats off to the couple who’s blessed texas with a taste of Jamaica.

I was visiting TX for my nephew’s graduation and suggested this establishment. Everyone was on board. We ordered a variety of foods. My mom and I ordered the Tour, which is a sample of different meats with rice and peas. Someone ordered oxtail and another person ordered the jerk chicken pasta. The jerk was exceptionally spicy hot. Yes, jerk is typically spicy hot. However, this was overkill. The Tour really should have come with more rice and peas considering all the meats which comes with it. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The staff was attentive. I plan to return the next time I visit TX

I had the mini beef Patties as an appetizer and the salt fish with callaloo with a side of plantains and the red peas and rice. Pineapple soda to top it off! Also ordered to go of the callaloo and red peas and rice. Very good portions and the food was very fresh! Ambiance was a good atmosphere and the service was exceptional! Will definitely be back.

I went to Ras Kitchen for lunch today. It was really good. I hate Oxtails that taste like sweet meat. They definitely know what they are doing over there. Its really nice inside with a perfect layout for a date night or lunch.

Ras Kitchen serves authentic Jamaican cuisine. The venue offers a variety of indoor or outdoor seating options and has a flexible space upstairs with a stage, dance floor, and bar. There are vegan and vegetarian options, and the meats come in a variety of sauces. The brown gravy is my favorite. Meat comes bone-in, so be aware of that. If you’re not sure what you want, ask for the Taste of Jamaica, which gives you a sample of six meats plus plantains and rice. I am not a fan of goat meat, but this was the best goat meat I have ever had. I didn’t try the oxtail, but everyone else said it was great. There are several levels of spiciness available as well. The owners and servers are delightful people. There was a dance upstairs, and DJSB played an awesome variety of fun music and took requests. We will definitely be back to dance another time!

The ambiance and setting is nice. I was excited to find a Jamaican restaurant bringing a taste of home to Texas. The problem was with the host, who introduced herself as the wife of the chief. Initially she appeared to be nice but drastically changed gears and became defensive and argumentative when I stated that hopefully the portion sizes were pleasing. Her response was, I’m sure you’ll be just as pleased as my other guests. She also stated that I could always order more food if I needed to, and my response was, that depends on your prices. Even though I wasn’t paying for my meal, I did not want my date over paying. We were also talking about the importance of maintaining the authenticity of a dish from another culture and that many of us might cook slightly different at home because at home we are usually not dealing with a variety of different cultures. She disagreed, and stated that her husband cooks exactly the same at home as he does in the restaurant. I wasn’t accusing them of not being authentic. I simply expressed that it was ok to appeal to other cultures by incorporating certain dishes such as the Jerk Tacos which they have, and that it was also okay to cook slightly different in the restaurant than you do at home, while still maintaining authenticity, because you are appealing to a bigger audience and a variety of people. I requested a medium spicy dish and received a meal that was over spiced and extremely uncomfortable to eat, and I am accustomed to spicy food. I actually became itchy and developed a few bumps on my thighs, after consuming what I could of the meal. I drank water and took a second shower when I got home and felt better. I threw away the left overs. I do believe that my dish was over spiced with peppers on purpose, to make it uncomfortable to eat. The host actually ruined what should have been a nice dinner, by exhibiting less than professional and amicable behavior. Also, scanning with your phone to access a menu is annoying, as there are often issues. Tip to host: It is not polite to engage in disagreements with your customers, and If your attitude transitions from good to bad, which it did, it will be noticed. Best of luck to you.

I took my dad to eat here for his birthday dinner AND IT WAS SO GOOD OH MY LORD. The small side salad before the main dish was really nice and cold and the sauce was great. The plantains were sweet and soft and warm and so was the fried bread. The main dish was the best part!!! I got the Callalou and Saltfish with a side of rice and beans and it was absolutely amazing. My grandma is in New York right now so I haven’t been able to eat a lot of her food lately. This place really made me feel like I was eating her food again. Everything about this place is gorgeous. The venue is beautiful and the server is so nice and friendly and treated us very well. I read some of the reviews and saw that people were unhappy with wait time but I didn’t think it was bad considering that the owner is the only chef in the kitchen! Some people also fail to realize that if there food is not super hot it’s meant to be that way! I’ve been eating Haitian and Jamaican cuisine for all of my life so I was actually very grateful that not all of the food was SCORCHING hot. It was all a very nice temperature and brought back a lot of memories of my dads side of my family cooking for me. So for that im grateful as well! Amazing restaurant I highly recommend coming here.

I am so glad we visited this place just before we move out of Temple. The best thing about this restaurant- it has vegan options! So Jamaican food authenticity without meat is something I wouldn’t want to miss.

Definitely recommend trying this place if you are in central Tx. The food was great forsure. Not as spicy as I hoped but in lack of spice it made up for in taste overall and being well seasoned. The inside is really nice and classy too. This is definitely the type of place you can dress up or dress down to. They also have a venue upstairs you can rent out for events. Tried their pasta and other dinner dishes and it was A1!!!!!

The worst meal I’ve had in a long time. The worst service I’ve received in a long time. Was so excited to have jerk chicken again… jerk chicken was dry inedible dry. Seasoning was good just so dry it was hard to chew. Called to have it fixed and they replaced with chicken that was still dry but not as dry but this time they did not place jerk seasonings on the chicken…. Called to inquire what seasoning and the replacement chicken was seasoned with mild seasoning instead of the spicy jerk that was ordered… woman who answered the phone was rude showed no care in the fact that the food was ruined. Meal was ruined… this cost me 17$ to have a meal that I fed to my dogs. Will never waste my time here again. Not worth the time or money. Such a disappointment!!!
