Small restaurant in downtown San Carlos. Ambiance is nice and the wait staff is friendly and attentive. Has online payment option. The food is good, the highlight of the meal was the Burmese Pad Thai and the mango sticky rice. Parking in downtown San Carlos can be tricky at times. Burmese iced tea is not the same as Thai iced tea, more like Indian chai tea.

Rangoon Ruby is a bit of an anomaly. The interior exudes of something that pushes it to be higher end, but in a “Western” way while the food obviously is Burmese/Thai. Now that’s okay… to be a fancy high-end Asian cuisine. Unfortunately, the quality of the food doesn’t support it.

Went here for dinner and at 6, we were the only ones there. We ordered a lot of food – bowls of Jasmine rice, Mango Chicken, Garlic Noodles, Burmese Pad Thai, Yellow Tofu in Red Curry and ended with a Coconut Pudding.

Ordered this location for catering to the office and everyone absolutely loved the food. Beef and chicken were tender, walnut shrimp were large sized, garlic noodles was nice as well. Fiery tofu and vegetables (green beans) and garlic eggplant were extremely popular choices. A must have favorite for the office. Catering portions are definitely a little smaller than the claimed headcount, be prepared to order quite a bit extra compared to the claimed headcount.

Went on a sunday, dinner for 2. It was really crowded, but staff were friendly and did their best. We ordered some sake that was pretty decent for like $35 a bottle. We had samosas and the tea leaf salad for appetizers. Both were really great, especially the salad. The fermented tea leaf is a distinct flavor, and paired with crunchy nuts and greens is a good combo. The spicy lamb and pork curry were definitely good but nothing crazy amazing. I also thought the rice was overcooked and clumpy. Overall very good experience, but would probably try different mains next time.

We got the garlic noodles- excellent. Lemongrass Chicken- excellent. Chicken Crispy- my son said was great. Jasmine rice was done perfectly! Can’t wait to explore more of their menu! Slightly pricey, but the portions & flavor make up for it!

Were disappointed by the terribly greasy food. Unbelievably, the tea leaf salad was drenched in oil. Chicken curry and mixed vegetable were so ordinary with small portions for high priced menu items.

This was my first time having Burmese and was bit excited. Started with freshly cut coconut with coconut water, it was bit ok not that good. Had Tea leaf salad & loved it, it tasted soo good . Service was very friendly. As this’s our first time here got no idea what to have and the lady who served our table was a great help to us. And then tried a Fish dish called Basil Chili Swai (if I’m not wrong) with a side of flavored coconut rice which was damn good. Ended up with Coconut pudding along with Pineapple ice cream. Over all the experience was amazing. Will definitely come back …….
