This is a gem in a small town and represents their downtown home feel very well. I read the reviews before going and will say the owner who seats people is a little old Timey gruff, but with that being said, he runs a good establishment. The staff was very pleasant and on point. Food was ample in portions and tasty. Loved the fried okra and my husband’s sweet potato was large and rich with flavor. Our steaks were tender and cooked to our medium rare specifications. This is a great date night location, railroad enthusiasts, and foodies.

Called today around 12:40 to place an order and was told to call back in 30 minutes because they were extremely busy. I called back LIKE I WAS TOLD TO. And the person that answered the phone then told me they were not taking anymore to go orders and proceeded to HANG UP on me even after I explained the situation and what I had been told by another person on their staff. My family will never be dining here again and it would have easily been a $75 to $100 order that they missed out on. My family has dined here for years and this is completely unacceptable.

So Sunday, Mother’s Day 2023 my mom, dad and I drove past this restaurant and it looked a little busy due to Mother’s Day, but decided we’d stop for lunch. As we walked in the owner, who apparently seats people, walked up to us (without any personality nor smile) and I told him we would like a table for three. To which he replied with a question, “did you make a reservation? “. I explained that I didn’t know I needed to. His attitude then abruptly worsened. He told us he had been advertising for two weeks that guests needed to make reservations for Mother’s Day. I explained I wasn’t from there and I didn’t know. He didn’t care. He told us to have a seat on the bench, and he would try and find us a table after all his reservations came in at 1:00 (which was 20 minutes from then). I asked how long did he anticipate the wait, and he said he didn’t know, maybe 20 minutes. After sitting for 30 minutes and watching him look over at us several times, we decided we would leave. Nope…..any owner that is not pleasant and greet their guests with a smile when they walk in, is no restaurant for me. With the way we were treated, I wish I could give a lower star than one.

Wanted to try their steak but was told it would take at 45 minutes or so due to something I can’t remember now. I opted for the beef tips, mashed potatoes, squash casserole and green beans. The food was average but the portions seemed small to me. However, the price was good; as one meat, three sides and a drink, is priced at $13.99. Our server was very friendly and attentive.
