Stellar Service Saves the Day at Ra Sushi Bar (City Centre)
My wife, son, and I made our annual trip to City Centre to enjoy the Christmas décor and had a 6:45 PM reservation at Ra Sushi Bar on a Saturday evening. We don’t frequent this area, but we’d certainly consider making the trip again after this experience.
Upon arrival, the restaurant was at about 50% capacity, including one very large party. We settled in and ordered our drinks—Hot Sake for my wife and me, and a Caribbean Passion Fruit Mocktail for my son—along with three appetizers: Shishito Peppers, Lobster Inferno, and Chili Ponzu Yellowtail. Our initial drinks, appetizers, salads, and miso soup arrived promptly.
However, things quickly changed. The restaurant unexpectedly jumped to over 90% capacity in a short amount of time. We placed our entrée order for the Sushi and Nigiri Assortment and began a significant wait. Although we felt the restaurant was slammed, we weren’t upset because the appetizers had kept the hunger at bay. Our server, Evan, was attentive and periodically checked on us, assuring us the order was coming.
Above and Beyond Customer Care
The real test of a restaurant is how they handle mistakes, and Ra Sushi Bar passed with flying colors. After a prolonged wait, the manager, Silvana, approached our table. She sincerely apologized, explaining there had been a system glitch that prevented our entrée order from being sent to the Sushi Bar. She immediately offered to comp our dessert as compensation for the long wait.
When our delicious sushi finally arrived (about 15 minutes after her apology), we ordered another round of sake. Evan then went the extra mile, informing us that our next round of sake was on him to further make up for the delay!
We were truly impressed by the genuine effort from both Evan and Silvana to turn a frustrating situation around. They both provided service that was truly above and beyond.
✅ The Verdict
While we rarely come to the City Centre area (we live in Cypress), Ra Sushi Bar’s staff showed remarkable professionalism, ownership, and generosity. We left feeling valued and appreciated. I would enthusiastically recommend Ra Sushi Bar to anyone looking for great sushi and truly exceptional customer service in the area.

A few things.
I typically don’t like going to places when it’s close to closing time so I don’t get the staff backed up and I ran late and showed up about an hour before closing. The staff was super friendly and didn’t make me feel rushed or like an inconvenience and I found it super refreshing.
The manager(?) was also very friendly and making his rounds checking on tables, also not something I see much anymore.
The food is always great and one thing I really enjoyed is the music, not just the selection but the volume level, it’s always perfect for the atmosphere but I don’t have to raise my voice to talk to the person I’m with.
My server, Evan, was super welcoming as well, definitely the kind of server one requests a table with. It was a great night and I’m glad we stopped in.

I went to RA Sushi for their lunch special and it was such a great experience! I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box, which came with miso soup, pork gyoza, a veggie spring roll, salad, and rice. Everything was amazing and full of flavor. Our server, Jeriah, was wonderful! She was very prompt, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit. Definitely coming back!

Wanted to try a good sushi/hibachi restaurant and my wife and I decided on this place to make a to go order. I’d like to start off by saying that it took a little over an hour to get the food. When we arrived home, I was absolutely pissed in every single way possible. The hibachi that costed almost $50 was absolutely horrendous. The meat had all kinds of burnt pieces because the grill was not cleaned in between cooking rotations. The rice was bland and the portion size was as small as your palm. I felt like I was eating a school lunch. The sushi was alright but not worth the money they’re charging, flavors didn’t mix and 6 pieces for a $20 roll is absolutely insane. Our noodles were slightly hard in some parts of the dish. Paid $150 not including a $10 tip for a to go order just to get something I could’ve made myself if not better at home. Unless you want to get absolutely ripped off and get food that’s flavorless and small, DO NOT BOTHER COMING HERE! Don’t even give it a second thought. They should be ashamed to offer this type of quality food for those prices and I’ll spend $200 on a dinner every night of the week. Smh!!

10/10 experience. Came for Happy Hour to stop and eat while shopping. We got fried rice, pork dumplings and shrimp tempura rolls.
Now, I don’t like dumplings but I tried them and ended up eating a good few. They were delicious!!!! Loved my fried rice- it definitely filled me up.
Gordon was very patient, knowledgeable about all food items and attentive. We’ll be back! 🙂
