Walk in and pick up a menu from one of the tables and order at the counter. You can pay after you eat, or at least that’s what we did when we ate a really late lunch at 3:30pm. We were the only ones there because it was an off time.
Many things about this place are unique:
1. it’s the only place you can get lunch from 2-5pm in Ozona or pretty much anywhere in a 50 mile radius that I could find other than a convenience store or maybe Subway or Sonic.
2. Probably the only ethnic food of any kind other than Mexican that can be found within 100 miles.
Not unique, but notable: it’s delicious.
The menu can be seen in the photos in this listing. I had the Chana Dal (garbanzo beans), and my partner had the Chicken Tandoori. Both were hearty but not too heavy, and spicy but not too hot for us. If you like the red salsa you get with chips at Tex-Mex places nearby then the heat level is going to be OK for you. The spices are fresh and flavorful.
We don’t eat heavy so it’s worth noting that the sauces are substantial but not heavy. You *can* get a heavy sauce like the butter chicken or the vindaloos probably have. (We have not tried them). We also got one side of rice, a potato dish to split and the naan (flatbread) came with it.
There was plenty of soap in the bathrooms. The bathrooms could use some construction maintenance but so can lots of places nearby. We came for the food.
We weren’t getting dessert or drinks, but the cooler seemed to have some traditional desserts and there were a couple of different kinds of chai and I think 5 lasses (yogurt based drinkable desserts)
Great stop between east and west on a long trip across Texas and we will definitely go there again.
What a find today! I was rolling down I-10, stomach rumbling like a semi-truck, just looking for something decent to eat — and boom, spotted this little joint. The reviews looked solid, so I thought, “Alright, let’s roll the dice.”
And guess what? Total win.
I ordered the Dal Makhni and Tawa Roti — both were on point. The dal was rich and flavorful, and the roti was fresh off the tawa, soft with that perfect slight crisp. Bonus: the food came out fast. Like, suspiciously fast. Either they have kitchen ninjas or my hungry face triggered emergency service.
Now, let’s be clear — don’t go expecting chandeliers and Instagram-worthy plating. This place isn’t about frills. It’s about authentic, no-nonsense food that hits the spot.
It’s a small, humble setup, clearly run by a tight-knit team. You’ll likely spot truck drivers fueling up on real comfort food — and that’s when you know the food is legit. As the name suggests, this is a true-blue Dhaba — simple, rustic, and all about the flavor.
If you’re near I-10 and craving the real deal, skip the chains and pull in here. Your taste buds will thank you.
