I had their Pueblo Nuevo Pork Chop, or “Chuleta Pueblo Nuevo”. Which comes with a fried breaded boneless pork chop that literally melts in your mouth and is as soft as butter when you bite it, covered in a very thick and creamy seafood styled sauce with shrimp and mussels which were also super soft and very delicious. You could taste each thing without any of them being too invasive on the other flavors.
For the sides, there’s a very generous portion of rice which seemed to me to be coming from a container of about 10-12floz (a lot of rice), cooked with coconut oil and other spices which gave it a super delicious umami flavor to complement the thick sauce and balance the salty seasoning and spices from the amazing breading the pork chop had. Additional sides were 2 large pieces of thick fried plantain and their delicious house salad which gave me a very well needed palate cleanser from all the various spices and flavors I had.
I am a 210lb, 6’0 man, and I was not able to finish this. I came here hungry and left full and satisfied. All the amounts of food here were extremely generous. And their house lemonade comes with some slushed ice which makes it far more enjoyable to drink rather than a watered down lemonade with floating ice which will ultimately water it down more.
I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking for a big meal to calm your cravings for the day. The place was extremely clean, staff were incredibly friendly, and the place smelled very good, amazingly good. All the decorations gave it a very cozy tropical/pacific Colombian vibe, I felt like I was there! Their menu is small and traditional, so you can trust that everything they are cooking is being served often and it is always being cooked fresh. Unlike big menu places who might have everything frozen until it’s ordered.
I came here on a reasonable time 4pm on a Sunday after mass and found very good parking. They also have a valet service if you’re interested in that!
My husband and I loved the food and the service. Literally a little piece of the Colombian pacific in Houston
From the start, the experience was special. We began with some crispy, flavorful empanadas and some chontaduros, just like back home. The cocktails made with viche were a standout, bold, authentic, and full of character.
We tried a few dishes, but the sudados stole the show, that homemade flavor you only get from slow cooking and love. The fried fish was excellent too: golden and crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, just how it should be.
No doubt, we’ll be back. There’s still so much more to taste from this delicious Pacific-flavored corner of Colombia in Houston.
