We are a small Pub located in historic downtown Freeport, IL. Pub 219 is right off of Tutty’s Crossing and the Jane Addams trail, next to the Pecatonica River, making us a convenient stop before or after your bike, kayak or canoe trip. We offer a variety of local drafts, wine and cheese as well as a full-service bar. Our menu includes appetizers, specialty grilled cheese sandwiches, burgers, wraps and daily specials. Stop in and play on our custom made shuffleboard table or sign up for seasonal leagues. In our private gaming room adults can try their luck at video gaming and from May – November we offer outdoor seating. We hope to see you soon our wish is that you #Enjoyitlocal!

I ate lunch here with my mom and we had a wonderful time, especially since outdoor seating was available and the weather was nice. We ordered fried cheese curds as an appetizer, the bistro burger (beef patty + egg, bacon, & hashbrown) for myself, and the caprese grilled cheese (tomato, mozzarella, and basil) for her, each pictured here. It was all delicious and highly recommended. Both of these entrees were monthly specials (July 2021) so might not be available at other times. The woman serving us was also incredibly helpful and friendly, even offering to take our picture for us as we were fiddling with our camera. This is a great spot for lunch if you’re in the area!

Do yourself a favor and go order the pretzels. They are delicious and the cheese sauce is absolutely amazing. Put it this way, we went back in right away and asked for more!

I don’t have enough experience going here to give a complete review. I can say that the staff was extremely attentive and helpful. The glass of wine that I had was a generous pour. I would love to see some local wines featured. The tomato soup was lovely, despite being served in a styrofoam container, and the pretzels with beer cheese sauce delicious. Another visit or two and an upgrade to more earth-friendly dishes and silverware and 5 stars is easily within reach.
