Sometimes the food is pretty good and sometimes it’s mediocre at best. The way it’s given to you if you get it to go is consistently shameful, however. As you can see in the picture, there is absolutely no class with a to-go order.

I ordered the caribou burger medium rare with crispy Applewood smoked bacon and a small side salad. It was absolutely delicious- moist, not too greasy and flavorful. I would order it again. So now I’ve added caribou to my list of other burgers – elk, camel, and bison. Bon Appétit!

Avoid eating here! Doordash will be quicker and better quality! The food and service in the Ptarmigan Lounge were just awful. We ate at the restaurant the first night we arrived in Anchorage. We’d been tired after traveling all day. It took 40 minutes for my husband’s cocktail to arrive after he ordered it. It took over an hour and 15 minutes for our food to arrive. I ordered the “stew” in the picture with a grilled cheese. It was more of a vegetable soup that tasted burnt, and the grilled cheese was toasted on only one side. Our server ignored us after she took our order. We had to talk to the host to find out if our food was coming. They blamed the delay on room service. Don’t waste your time at this restaurant.

Oof! I wish I could say good things, but it’s hard to find any. The day we went it was extremely understaffed, a new chef, and service was slooow. When they say smoked salmon, it was liquid smoked to the hilt. Drinks came 25 minutes after we ordered them, even water. All in all, this will not be a place I recommend or go to again. This is more of a bar than a restaurant.

Ptamarmigan Restaurant, in the Sheraton, Anchorage, Alaska. If I could give the service a zero review I would. The server was terrible! She disappeared more often than we saw her. We had to ask constantly for everything. We waited for the bill for at least a half hour. The food was barely warm, mostly room temperature, for as long as it took for it finally to come out. There were only 2 other diners. Automatically added to the bill was a 20% tip. She deserved a 2% tip at best!! TERRIBLE!!! TERRIBLE!!!! JUST TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!

Located off the lobby inside the Sheraton Anchorage, this large space provides a cozy spot to chat with friends and colleagues after a long day. Wine list is OK and prices are reasonable. Fried cod bites on the appetizer menu were delicious.
