The dim sum here is good, especially their shrimp eggplant toast and chicken feet. They offer complimentary indoor parking, which is a big plus. The service is generally good, but if you order main dishes, expect a longer wait especially during busy weekend lunch hours. Overall, it’s a nice spot for dim sum, just be prepared for slower service when it’s crowded.

Inside the Courtyard by Marriott in Monterey Park, there’s a Chinese restaurant that’s perfect for family gatherings or business lunches/dinners (they also have private rooms you can reserve).
This spot used to be Chef Tony, but it has now changed to Crystal Palace.

The menu is extensive with lots of variety, flavors were great, and the staff were also very friendly. Before serving, they announced the dish name and gave a quick intro about the cooking style, which added a nice touch.

Prices are on the slightly higher side, but the food is delicious and the whole dining experience feels refined and classy. Definitely a place my family and I would come back to.

The former Chef Tony’s is now Crystal Palace, but if you try to connect to their Wi-Fi, the SSID is still the same! As other people have said, the food is kinda standard. The one thing I have to criticize is the 燒賣 was really lacking of flavor. For the price, the presentation could be better. BUT, where they win, is the fact that for a Chinese restaurant, their service is actually pretty good. Much better than the service you get at the Chef Tony’s that still stands.

We’ve been wanting to try Crystal Palace for a while, and finally got the chance when we were invited to a wedding banquet there. The restaurant is inside the Marriott Hotel, nicely decorated with a plush setting and comfortable atmosphere. The service was good and efficient, and we appreciated that parking was validated by the restaurant, which made things convenient.

The food, however, was just average for the price. The lobster with Yee Mien noodles didn’t have much flavor, and overall, the dishes were a bit underwhelming. Still, we had a great time celebrating with friends and enjoyed the surprise lion dance and the full USC band that performed during the wedding — it made the evening fun and memorable.

Chef Tony Dim Sum offers a welcoming and lively dining experience, with service that makes you feel right at home. The dim sum is decent and served promptly, though the real highlight is the warm hospitality. Yes, it can get a bit noisy, but that’s part of the authentic Cantonese yum cha vibe! The restaurant is clean and conveniently located, especially for hotel guests. A solid choice for a casual, satisfying dim sum meal.

My friend invited me to a dinner here and everything was so good! Crystal Palace took over the Chef Tony location. They not only have dimsum all day along with various dishes, but they also added carpaccio to their appetizer menu! It was delicious! So were the shishito peppers! The French style diced beef was so tender and flavorful. Hubby really liked the vermicelli with beef and pickles, pickles were so good! So was the crispy layer! I really liked their spicy wontons and of course salted egg shrimp. The dessert was delish! Loved golden lava bun and bunnies! Will definitely be back! I’m eyeing the oxtail and whole pumpkin, lobster salad and Peking duck 2 way which you need to order a day ahead. Their house special chicken is also an order ahead item that’s supposed to be really good too. Service was excellent and the ambiance is set for fine dining with so private rooms as well.

4 stars for aspiration and creativity. Remind me of The God Of Cookery ( Stephen Chow 1996), the abalone sticky rice has no abalone taste, the scallop in scallop shumai must be on vacation. It is nowhere to be found in shumai. It should have been placed on top visible to my eyes and hungry mouth. The house special fried rice is nothing special. Would have been sparkling flavorful if fried with bbq pork. The tea cup is stained with yesterday tea stain. Nasty. Let’s say this is not a cheap place for dim sum and I expect a little more for the money spent. Next time I hope I can rate you a 5-star review.

Chef Tony closed and this new Crystal Palace came to replace Chef Tony. There are similarities in the dishes but the quality is 50% worse than before. The meats and shrimps are not thawed enough and the seasoning is just not there. Prices went up but the service and food quality became worse. Wouldn’t recommend. It is not Chef Tony we loved before.

The Crystal Palace is located at the Marriot in Monterey Park. They have the best food. We have gone twice now. Once for just Dim Sum and once for dinner.

There is nothing not to like about this place. It is ever so clean and it is very comfortable. The last time we went it was so cold outside but the eatery was nice and warm, but not hot. There is great seating and when we were there it was not crowded. We did not have a reservation, but I think you can make one and I would if allowed.

The place is really pretty and set up to seat a lot of people.

The service was exceptional. They were all so nice and I did have questions about some of the Dim Sum. They know everything.

Their dinner fish dishes are great and we love their rice. We loved the beef tripe and all of their shrimp dishes are great. Have fun.

Chef Tony is the Chinese restaurant of Courtyard by Marriott Monterey Park, Los Angeles. There is no reservation for lunch, and waiting time can easily be over an hour. Although the hotel restaurant has a high ceiling, it is very noisy, because tables are packed closely together. In addition to being understaffed, most of the waiters are very green, hence inefficient. The dim sum dishes might be considered good in Monterey Park, but they are not particularly cheap, and definitely not worth lining up for.
