I had an incredible time at this steakhouse! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, but the service and food truly stole the show.
Highlights of the Night:
The Meat Master: A huge shoutout to Rui, the meat carver. He is a true artist! Every cut he brought to our table was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and sliced with expert precision. You can tell he takes great pride in what he does.
Top-Notch Service: I also want to commend our two waiters for their hospitality. They were incredibly professional and made us feel right at home throughout the entire meal. It’s rare to find such a dedicated team.
Final Verdict: If you’re looking for high-quality meats and a staff that genuinely cares about your experience, this is the place. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Yummy lunch and the meats were delish. The dressings Inc chimichuri were such a treat. Salad bar yumminess too!
We got the buffet. I think it’s better to come here in the evening when you are very hungry. We came at lunchtime and we really didn’t eat that much to justify the price. The bill came to £70 for three people which is quite high considering the amount we ate.
Also why are the cans of soft drink so expensive here?
The buffet would be a good choice if you’re very hungry because you can eat as much meat as you want and have a selection of salads and other hot dishes. Otherwise, it’s not worth it
The only thing I didn’t love was the steak. It was quite tough. But I think it may have been the piece I received and not the steak itself.
The chicken and the sausages were delicious! In fact, just the week before I had gone to Nandos and was served cold half-chicken. When I complained they argued with me that “there is nothing wrong with the chicken”. Perhaps I’m strange to want chicken served hot…
The chicken I got at Preto was sizzling hot and had a much better flavour than at Nandos! I don’t think there is a better compliment than that
The pasta with pesto was a little meh and tasted a bit old. And the grilled vegetables were a bit bland and boring and could be so much better. But everything else was tasty
Also my cutlery was clearly dated and my fork was dented. Not a major issue but it could easily be changed (I added a zoomed-in photo)
The two ladies working front of house were welcoming and friendly. The guy carving the meat at the table was very generous with the portions and was happy to bring us what we wanted
I can see why people might have an issue with the service charge in a self-serving buffet. But I can say the staff were friendly and attentive. Our drinks were served almost immediately, too. The only issue I had with this was that we needed to chase them for the bill and were asked to go and pay by the entrance. It was a little awkward because we had a young baby in a pram and we were running around trying to pay the bill. It was a little bit chaotic. I don’t understand why they couldn’t just bring us the bill and let us pay at the table.
I’d happily return and would recommend it. They just have a few small issues which need addressing and I hope they continue to improve
Amazing service from Connie, Tinu, and Victor. I’ll definitely be back!
We chose the all you can eat / unlimited option as opposed to menu. The meat is served until you flip your table mat over. Food comes out at a reasonably good pace and you choose whether you want a particular meat cut or wait for another option to be served. There are different types of steaks, grilled chicken, sausage and gammon.
There is a aelf serve station offering salads vegetables and other side dishes such as fries, roast potatoes, two variety of beans (which are delicious).
Service is acceptable, but theres room for improvement with attentiveness being on a top priority to addres.
The wc was clean but no hot water! Alsonthe hand drier (to add insult to inhury is also cold only) Hopefully both of these issues have been addressed.
All in all i can reccomend this place, especially if you are a meat lover. The wuality vs price is right and therefore gains the most stars, as does the self servr stayion and genrral cleaniness and layout provding a rrlaxing place to eat. Other points let it down is parking and accessibility. Colchester city centre is frankly a terrible place for parking and accessibility, thus making it a stressful experience getting tonthr venue. It also looses stars for the issues experienced at the venue, but, all of those negative aspects (with exception to the parking and accessibility) can be remedied. So we will return again.
