Port Tobacco Restaurant offered a very calm and quiet atmosphere, which made for a relaxed dining experience. I can definitely see this being a great spot in the summer when the area is more lively and scenic.

That said, I’m reviewing this strictly based on the food. Unfortunately, the dishes we ordered were a bit underwhelming. I had the burger with fries — the fries were actually very good, crispy and well-seasoned — but the burger itself was fairly basic and lacked the flavor I was hoping for. It felt comparable to something you might get at a fast-food spot rather than a sit-down restaurant.

My partner ordered the crab cake sandwich. It was decent, but it didn’t stand out compared to other crab cakes we’ve had in the area.

I would consider visiting again, but next time I’d likely focus more on seafood-specific entrées rather than traditional American options. There’s potential here, and I’d be interested in giving it another try with a different selection.

As soon as you pull in the parking lot, you see how nice and clean it is. You walk in and it’s a beautiful restaurant. Great staff that was so polite and tentative. I visited the bathroom after being seated, and I’ll tell you what, a clean bathroom tells me so much about the whole restaurant. This bathroom was flawless. Not a water stain on the wall. No droopy soap from the a dispenser. Quality paper towels. Got our food and I’ll tell you what that crab cake sandwich was beautiful. All crab, no fillers! The hush puppies were spectacular! Hands down I recommend this place to anyone looking to dine in a hidden gem. See you guys soon. Hats off to the chef and wait staff! Well done to the whole team!

I came here before it was remodeled and I wasn’t going to go back half the things on the menu they didn’t have. Since they said it was remodeled I decided to give it another try & I must say the revamp of the menu is great just the right amount of choices. I went around lunch which they had brunch I got the crab dip which was excellent & the shrimp & grits using stone grits was fantastic. I had a mix blueberry/blackberry margarita that was delicious too. This time I can’t wait to go back. Service was great, the atmosphere was wonderful & the inside was very nice, I ate outside to enjoy the water view.

Absolutely wonderful brunch. The food presentation was super cool! Food was perfect, and our wait staff lady was magical! Loved her little yellow facial stars.

This place is terrible. I should have known this place was a joke when I ordered an IPA from their beer menu, and they brought out the canned beer… without a glass. I asked for a glass and poured the beer. Upon my first sip of the beer, I immediately realized that the beer was not an IPA. I looked at the can, and the beer was clearly labeled as a lager. Lesson 1: Don’t trust their drink menu. Then, when I asked to have that beer taken away and for a different drink (an actual IPA), the server threatened me that all alcohol orders are final and I would have to pay for their mislabeled mistake. I offered to speak to the manager about it, but the manager never came. Lesson 2: Maintain severely low expectations from the management team. Instead, the server came back with the new drink and again without a glass. So I asked for a glass again only to be told that they don’t have any more chilled glasses. The server instead brought me a plastic cup. Lesson 3: Order ice water instead, fool-proof choice. Then we ordered our food. I was certain that the burger was going to be a gourmet burger due to its outrageous cost; I was wrong. I asked for a med-rare burger and received two very well-done patties that were both very small, maybe 3oz/patty. My wife ordered a crab cake and was so disappointed with it that she didn’t even eat it. The crab cake is all filler and the worst we have tried since we have been in Maryland. Lesson 4: They must employ line cooks, not Chef’s (which isn’t a big deal, but don’t ask me how I want it cooked if you are incapable of performing the task). The cocktail my wife ordered was terrible, I have no idea how you mess up a Pina colada, but we now know it’s possible. Lesson 5: The bartender on a Saturday night cannot make a simple cocktail. This experience was one of the worst experiences of my life. The best things on our plates were the buns and the French fries… both were probably store bought. I won’t be going back. Even after they close and a new restaurant opens up… I won’t go back. Save yourself the trip, go to McDonald’s instead.

On March 2 my husband and I stopped at this restaurant for dinner. I have read some of these reviews and it seems that we were in a different restaurant. We ordered the Cream of Crab soup for starters. When it arrived at our table, I was surprised because it looked more like a cup of brown gravy than the soup. Crab had no place in the soup and that kind of set the tone for the rest of the meal. The French fries were very good and the food did arrive hot but it was mediocre at best. This restaurant has been scratched from my list!!!

I had not been back since redo but had seen bad ratings…but wow! The tables and atmosphere are a great upgrade. The service was great. We had the best fried Brussels sprouts and hushpuppies ever. The frozen drinks and all drinks are great. The happy hour deals are great. And we went on Wednesday where lots of seafood is half price…best crabs ever!

The only food worthwhile was the cheeseburger and the crab dip. Six local people, who have eaten here many times (one even worked here in the distant past), and everyone left dissatisfied. We all hoped the re-opening and new management would be a benefit, but not so much. The need to go find our server or beg her to visit our table, coupled with nearly inedible food (most uneaten, about 70%) a $7 bowl of berries (see photo) and limited options for allergies… It’s very unlikely any of us will return.

The food was delicious. We are boaters and finding good food on the water is a challenge on the Potomac. Husband and I were very pleased with the new menu. Live music was an added bonus.

Tonight we tried the revamp of PTM(now PTR) and I must say it did NOT disappoint! The new décor, new menu, all giving a new vibe to an old spot. I ordered the lavender lemontini, they were out of lavender flavor which I’m not holding against them, they did just open , the nautical pasta was a solid 7/10 full of seafood , portion was a little smaller than expected especially for the price point, however still good, my fiancé got the smoked bbq chicken sandwich and he gave that a 10/10 , flavorful , chicken was tender, warm bun came with fries. We finished with donut holes ABSOLUTELY AMAZING 10/10 soft tasted like the Cinnabon delights from Taco Bell but fresh and homemade. I wasn’t sure I was ready to let the aesthetics of PTM go…..but this was a change in a positive direction I think this is gonna be a hit.
