Not sure how the reviews are anything but 5 stars. First of all; the staff is amazing. Warm, inviting and friendly. My husband got the “catch of the day” which was a BEAUTIFUL large portion of Grouper. It came with fresh veggies and was doused in the most DELICIOUS sauce we have ever tasted. I’m a crab GIRLY so of course that was my go to. Fresh, meaty.. to die for. Our waitress Christina was not only a sweetheart but very attentive and helpful. She even cracked jokes with us and gave us some local advice.
We were a bit weary after reading some reviews but we are so glad we didn’t base our opinion on that. One of the highlights of our 10 day trip for sure. We will be back EVERY time we come to Destin. (Yes, it’s a bit pricey… but you’re eating fresh seafood on the harbor in a giant tourist attraction area…. Just saying… it’s to be expected for people who travel)
My advice. Don’t miss out and come here!

What a fantastic dining experience at Poppy’s Seafood Factory in Sandestin! We started with the Whipped Goat Cheese, a new addition to their menu and it was absolutely delicious. Next up were the char-grilled oysters, and wow… just incredible. We also tried a cup of gumbo and the lobster roll, both of which were flavorful and fresh. The lobster roll was packed with lobster and so tasty!
We were especially impressed by the hospitality. AJ, the owner, personally stopped by our table to check in. He was so friendly, and it was clear he has a real passion for his restaurant. We also spoke with the manager, Scott, who was equally kind and clearly keeps everything running smoothly.
Highly recommend dining at Poppy’s, great food, excellent service, and a team that truly cares. We’ll definitely be back on our next visit!

Great place for lunch and dinner! Peel and eat shrimp basket, corn and sausage is $32! Awesome views over the wharf, boats and TVs to watch! Fried pickles, crab legs basket, corn and sausage!

Poppy’s food is on par with any other seafood place in the Destin area. It’s fine. The view from this restaurant is the highlight. That’s where the good experience ended. The wait time to place an order was really long, and the wait for the food after we placed the order was just as excessive. Refills on drinks were slow. The worst part about our experience was outright theft on the part of the restaurant. I paid my bill with a credit card. The waitress came back and said it gave a card reader error. So I gave them a different card. Ten minutes later a manager brings the card back and asks how our meal was. Fine. A few days later I check my credit card statement and they have charged me twice. Once with the tip, once without. I tried dozens of times over the course of a week to call and email the restaurant. I left multiple civil voicemails with no return call. I contacted the property manager for Baytown Wharf to see if I could get in touch via that route unsuccessfully. I got one email back from the restaurant with no resolution. I finally filed a claim with my credit card company, and they have been unable to resolve the matter over the last 24 days. What frustrates me the most is this is an easily repeatable MO for theft. I can’t help suspect this restaurant simply charges people twice for meals and counts it toward the profits to afford a nice piece of real estate. Beware before you choose to eat here.

The absolute worst restaurant experience we have ever had on a vacation. Our food tasted like it was cooked days ago and reheated. My burger tasted like an old leather belt. I’m literally going to be sick now. Both of our parties (different tables) were charged a 20% service fee twice ($40 total)! They also charge a fee if you use a credit card. Nice little resort fee to boot! Lol I’ve added a photo after the bill was “fixed”.
Rude manager and staff.
Take those dollar bills off the walls, you’re going to need them. What makes you think that your food deserves the prices you have?

Top notch service and amazing dishes. Everything is super fresh and perfectly seasoned. The desert was great too. I love it when the chef understands that you don’t need loads of sugar to create a balanced desert. Highly recommend eating here.

We made reservations on Open Table for 6 pm on Friday. I was shocked at how empty the resturant was when we arrived. The area it was located was super busy, and parking was a horrible. Our server was very nice. We ordered Smoked Tuna and Lobster Bisque for appetizers. The Smoked Tuna was amazing. The Lobster Bisque was tasteful but warm at best. My daughter struggled with ordering at 8 years old. Charging $15 for Kids meal the small size you receive at less expense establishments is ridiculous. I ordered the Redfish. I am gluten intolerant, and the server told me she would have them substitute the fried green tomatoes. It wasn’t until a few things eaten that I realized I never received another option. I asked the cook that brought the food out, and she replied,”Well, do you just want potatoes?” I was told they were not gluten-free, so I declined. My husband and son shared the Lobster TAILS and with an additional side of shrimp. It is an additional up charge of $5 to share. When his food arrived, it was a plate of shrimp, fries, and 2 small waffles. After we finally was able to get the cooks attention and told her what happened, she acted very confused. The server came out after the cook walked away and looked over my husband’s shoulder at his plate, didn’t say anything to our table, and walked away. She returned with the fried lobster tail. When my husband removed the tail, less than 2/3 of it was edible. It was a very small piece. We had to ask the server to give us our check. Keep in mind she was kind but only came to the table a hand full of times. The bill had a $53 charge for my husband’s meal. I pulled up the menu on my phone, and it says it is Lobster TailS. I questioned this, and she said the menu has changed a lot.
We were very dissatisfied with the service, quality of food, and value we paid. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.
2 good things that I recommend if you visit is the Poppy’s Paloma and Smoked Tuna. $200 later and we were all hungry right after we left.

Arrival and service issues from the start. Reservation was at 8:00 PM.
• It was 54 degrees, windy, and the hostess desk was outside with no protection and no heating.
• Only one hostess.
• Guests were left standing outside freezing, despite having reservations.
Service speed was unacceptable:
• Appetizer (lobster bisque) ordered after seating.
• 45 minutes passed with no appetizer.
• The bisque arrived at 9:15 PM only after we asked for it — and it was lukewarm.
• Entrées arrived at 9:30 PM, well after the delayed appetizer.
Food quality:
• Crab legs and shrimp were good.
• The salad felt like an afterthought — more of a small side salad than a proper entrée salad.
Good seafood doesn’t make up for poor planning, slow service, and a rough arrival experience.

Had a wonderful experience, Sharifa and Calvin made us feel so, so welcome. It was like being home for the holidays, which is what we needed at the time.
The food was good, but the personal interactions were just so lovely. I’d come back just for them!
