What a surprise. The little off the beaten path diner was quite the treat. Reasonable priced, great service and excellent food. We dined right when they opened. Ponderosa burger, such great flavor and served on a green chili bagel. If your up in the area, definitely stop in. You won’t be disappointed.

They still don’t have the chicken fried steak on the menu but the presentation and food is yummy. The wait staff was much friendlier this time. The coffee is extra good too!

The Ponderosa was worth the drive. The rough hewn logs of the cabin were a warm and inviting element of the restaurant. The service was excellent, the prices were reasonable, and the portions were generous. I’m looking forward to coming back for breakfast someday.

We stumbled upon this restaurant on our travels home and were so glad we did. The atmosphere was nostalgic and immaculate. The food was excellent including the scrumptious homemade dessert. Our server, in spite of running solo, was very professional and accommodating with great customer service. The woman who checked on us several times was a sweetheart. We will definitely make it back there again to enjoy some good old fashioned home cooking.

My girlfriend and I wanted to try some place neither of us have been before for lunch. She suggested The Ponderosa. I did some online checking about this restaurant and was a little leery due to the recent negative reviews, but we went anyway to see for ourselves. It was AMAZING! The atmosphere has a lot of character, the food was very good (we both had the soft shell tacos), and our waiter was extremely attentive, polite, and cheerful. We were also treated to free cherry pie for dessert (which was incredibly good) and a full size chocolate bar came with our check (not cheap chocolate either). After paying the bill (very reasonable at $22 for two of us), we stayed and talked for about an hour more and our waiter kept checking on us to see if we needed anything. Not once did we feel like they wanted us to leave. I do not understand these recent negative reviews of this restaurant. I’m not saying the reviewers weren’t being honest, but we had such a different experience that it does seem odd. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. It’s a beautiful drive up to the Ponderosa and you won’t be disappointed with this place.

This place has gotten comfort food absolutely right. The Hickory Smoked Sausage smothered in onions and peppers was so very delicious, and hospitality was astoundingly good! Our server was all smiles and so very sweet! The log cabin atmosphere and wholesome music really adds to the comfort of the food. They are not kidding when they call this a home away from home. I cannot recommend this place enough!

This place definitely serves the “comfort food” that their outdoor sign states. My wife and I have visited three times in the last week, two dinners, and a breakfast. We kept our expectations kind of low, due to some of the other reviews. We had the Rib eye steaks the first night and they were perfectly cooked (medium rare) and generously portioned. The side dishes were tasty and “homey”. We ordered a Reuben sandwich and a salmon salad for takeout, and both items (& the sides with the sandwich) were great. The next morning, we went back and both ordered the “Mountain Man” skillet breakfast. Delicious, and again, generously portioned. A couple of nights later, we went back for dinner. The Rib eye was great again, and the wife chose the pork chops (also great).

A surprising find nestled in the east mountains. We loved the decor and the log cabin construction. Wait staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean. Service was slow but our waitress informed us there would be a delay due to a large table that had just ordered. When our order arrived, the food was fresh and very tasty. We will be visiting here more to try more items. Highly recommend giving them a try.
