I was so excited to try this place. I tasted the plantains first and thought the rest would be so good. I was wrong. It’s an uneventful food bowl that lacked any flavor. No seasoning on the meat, just lettuce, tomatoes, onions and canned beans thrown in a plastic bowl topped with costco guacamole.

Not far from the convention center Pollo Tropical stood out as my group was from Mexico and Texas. Tried the chicken sandwich, rice and black beans. Everything was great. I have given this location so many chances but today when I pay my hard earned money and get bad product with even worse service while waiting 15 minutes in line for this. Today I tell you stay far away from this location. From pan handling bums everywhere while you wait 15+ minutes to get really rude workers with terrible food.

Vickson and the night crew did an outstanding job despite the overwhelming number of customers inside and the backed up line of cars in the drive through! They were very polite and calm despite the stormy chaos. I saw them deal with short tempered customers in a very level headed manner and I was so impressed. The chicken was done perfectly. The staff were super helpful with little follow up requests. Way to go! It’s not easy when things are so busy and employees call out, but they did wonderfully despite that.

I have to say that the customer service and atmosphere of this pollo tropical is the worst I have experienced at any establishment. First the person who served us our order gave us the wrong item, when I showed her the receipt she was annoyed and took it back all while complaining. Once she corrected my order I asked if she could give me some cilantro sauce and plates- as this was a family meal. Again she sighed and grumbled under her breath. Furthermore, The manner in which they scream your number out when your order is ready is very unnerving. Doesn’t make for an atmosphere where you want to sit and enjoy your meal. The owner of this establishment really needs to look at the staff running their business. They are miserable & rude and it shows.

I gave this a 4 star because of the food. Everything we got was delicious. We shared the trio plate which comes with 3 meats, rice, beans, and plantains. We also had the guava lemonade…awesome. Everyone working was in a big hurry which helped to get food quickly but not very welcoming for someone who hasn’t seen this menu before. The tables could have also been wiped down a little more.

Cleanliness of location was totally subpar. The food was dried, the yucca tasted like flavored yucca dough not cooked completely and the customer service was horrible. Clerk was rude and unable to explain the difference between the family meal and family meal + 2 sides.
