The food was awesome, in my opinion, with the exception of dessert.

This has been one of our “go to” favorites since we moved down 4 years ago. Sadly, last night was our last visit as our whole experience was horrible! We ordered drinks which were all good. We ordered our food as we got our drinks. Our appetizer was fine, fried grits with goat cheese and pepper jelly. Our reservation was at 6:45. At 7:50 our server asked if we wanted the “good news or bad news”. He had somehow missed the button to submit our order (bad news after an hour), but our meal would be taken care of he said (good news). About 15 minutes later the manager informed us that our meal would not be taken care of as they “can’t do that”. So we had our food finally about 8:30. It was just “ok”. We were celebrating my husband’s and my best friend’s birthdays so they said they would take care of dessert. See pic of what came out… The server set it down and said “it usually looks better”. What??!!! Food is about presentation and this would not have left my kitchen! And it tasted as bad as it looked. We are highly disappointed in our entire experience and will remove Playa from our list.

Playa is one of the best restaurants we have ate at in a long time!! Ahi Poke Bowl one of the best we’ve ever had. We’ve tried many. David our amazing server just like Shea, suggested the coconut shrimp which was so fresh and the fried grits with whipped goat cheese and red pepper jelly was like a cloud. Do not pass up this restaurant in Orange Beach.

Best day for happy on patio. The staff are so friendly and informative of their menu. I recommend the ahi Poke bowl for lunch large enough to share for 2. The happy hour fried grits and coconut shrimp are delicious.

Pleasant experience on a late lunch weekend date. Service was excellent. Started with the Ceviche, which was spot on. The Antree Coconut Grouper was really good and fresh; we also had the Shrimp Taco bowl that was more than generous and tasty. Thanks Isabella for your attention and wonderful personality.

We really enjoyed our late lunch here, an unexpected gem at the local marina. We were impressed with the gulf island shrimp – terrific batter, seasoning and sauce. Our key lime pie was also very good (I prefer mine to be more tart) but an excellent dessert. Our food took a little bit longer than expected, but our waiter was very attentive and obviously working hard with multiple tables. The interior space is also decorated beautifully and feels very modern. We would love to come back next time we’re in town.

We were here for brunch on a Sunday, right after they opened. Service and atmosphere were good. I got the carnitas breakfast, with braised pork and grits, topped with fried eggs and a chimichurri sauce. Absolutely delicious! My kids shared the French toast and loved it. Hubs ordered off the regular menu and got a swordfish sandwich and fries. He liked it but wish he would’ve ordered what I did. I would recommend and would go back in the future.

We had reservations for a party of 7. We were running late and they accommodated us. The food was delicious and the drinks were even better. We are in Gulf Shores/Orange Beach a few times a year. Playa is a little nicer than I’d tote my 3 kids to every time we come (read: they’re Bahama Bob’s level hooligans). But if you’re looking for a nice dinner close to the water in OBA I’d highly recommend Playa.
