Come for the pizza, and nothing else.
The Pizza Oven and Sauce Bar has been one of our favorite spots for a casual, unassuming atmosphere with great pizza. Looking for a quick, bite and a cocktail tonight, we stopped in and were very disappointed.
The bartender was uneducated on tending bar and was out of multiple ingredients to make our simple drinks (no diet 7, no bitters, assuming a manhattan goes in a pint glass, and not sure how to pour a whisky on the rocks).
We ordered “Jumbo Shrimp” and were shamefully served 6 frozen shrimp, under cooked, flavorless fries, and soggy garlic bread. We were also informed they were out of coleslaw. Though offered the salad bar, we were underwhelmed by the iceberg lettuce and croutons. Knowing we took a risk ordering something other than pizza, this was still terrible. We could have made ourselves some SeaPak shrimp at home and executed a cocktail better than this bar did tonight.
Figuring out your food service and bar order, training your bar tender, and fixing the busted vestibule door to cure the cold draft might make The Pizza Oven and Sauce Bar as busy as the other bars on Monona Dr on a Friday night.

The waitress was rude! They’re open until 10 on Saturdays (or that’s what it says online). The waitress asked us to leave at 930 because she couldn’t work past 10 because she was a minor. That’s not our fault. The person at the bar could have checked on us. It took her forever to ask if we wanted refills on our sodas. In fact, two of us went up to get our own. The tables and chairs were wobbly. We were hoping that we wouldn’t end up on the floor. It was not very clean either.

We went with my family for my mom’s birthday lunch. Almost 45 minutes after ordering, they told us that they were out of one appetizer we ordered. It took well over an hour to get three pizzas. We ordered one that had jalapenos and Buffalo sauce on half because kids in the group couldn’t handle the heat. It came out with both on the whole pizza and when we told the waitress, she told us that they couldn’t do halves on pizzas, despite the fact that she took our order without saying anything about it. Had we known that when she took our order, we would have ordered it without heat on the whole pizza. It was not incredibly busy, took a long time, and was inaccurate. I’m not sure that we will return. Unfortunate.

This used to be one of my favorite go to pizza spots. Nice, thin crust pizza. But the last time I went they got both pizzas wrong and said they would remake them, but we didnt feel like driving another half hour there and another half hour back home. The girl on the phone told us we could be reimbursed with free pizza, but checked with the manager who took that away and offered a coupon. I still gave them 3 stars because the pizza is good when they get it right. Ill just probably avoid the hassle next time and hit a different spot.

The delivery time I was given was 75-90 minutes. The pizza I received was different than what was listed on the menu, but it was good regardless.
Im in a hotel, and I wasn’t given any plates, forks, or napkins to eat with, so that was interesting.
Also, I wasn’t given a receipt from the delivery driver, so now I can’t expense it to my company.

Went here for the lunch buffet. Only thing halfway decent was the salad bar. The pizza was not fresh and the sauce was not good. The mac and cheese was greasy no flavor and they weren’t even trying with the lasagna. Nowhere near the quality I’d expect for $13+. Absolutely terrible. Go to Rossi’s right up the street and get a REAL pizza with exceptional service.

We ate here Saturday night and I let my wallet with my entire paycheck in cash in it. I did not realize I had left till 12 hours later. I called and asked if there was any way that it was still there~ The bartender said yes` even every receipt was still in it! I can’t thank our waitress, the owner and the other staff for their honesty, concern and compassion in my poor error! This was exceptional customer service ! What Good people they are !! Great business!!!

The service from Pizza Oven is horrible. Last Friday we ordered delivery from the because frankly we like the pizza, even though service has been a problem in the past we decided to give another chance. After waiting nearly 2 hours, I called the restaurant to check on our pizza. They said the driver had been to our house, knocked for some time, and no one answered. They said he also called us several times. I told them that we have a Nest security camera and I could prove that the delivery driver never came to our house, and that I had not received 1 phone call during that time — all 100% true. Hey said “what is it you want mam!?”. I said our pizza without a charge would be nice. They arrived very quickly after that…apologizing. Today the charge for the pizza hit my account. Terrible business practices and I will be sure to share over and over and over.

Arrived before 1:00 on a Saturday. Only one other table with guests. Placed an order for 2 pizzas to dine in. After waiting for almost an hour we asked about our pizzas. No one Gabe is a status on our food until we asked. We were told they were in the oven. 10 minutes later another staff came out to say they are out of gyro meat. No one asked to refill our drinks while we waited. We cancelled our order and left.
We like to be patrons of local businesses but we will never go back to this restaurant. Very disappointed.
