We had dinner here last month while staying at The Lincoln Hotel down the road. It was a Friday night, and there were lots of people stopping by to pick up pies and lots of calls coming in for orders. We enjoyed people watching and loved the feel of the old-school dining room that reminded me of my childhood.
The staff were pleasant despite the constant busy rush of customers. When our pies came out, 1 of them was a plain cheese that should have been pepperoni. They were kind and let us keep that one while they made another.
When we each tried a slice, it was absolutely delicious. Crispy crust but not overdone, a perfect amount of really good cheese, and the right proportion (for us) of sauce.
Overall, it was a really good experience that I would come back for again. The pizzas are made fresh, so just know that on a busy night like Friday, you will be there a bit waiting. Sit back, relax, people watch, and enjoy the pizza making show.

Pizza by Alex in Biddeford, Maine, serves up some truly delicious pizza that’s hard to beat. The crust is perfectly cooked, the sauce is flavorful, and the toppings are always fresh definitely a highlight for any pizza lover. However, my recent experience was a bit disappointing when it came to the service.
The staff began cleaning up the dining area at 7:30 PM, explaining that they were leaving at 8 PM, which felt a bit rushed and unwelcoming for us dining in. While they remained open for takeout until 9 PM, the early closure of the dining area took away from the overall experience.
If you’re looking for great pizza, Pizza by Alex delivers on flavor, but I’d recommend planning for takeout if you’re visiting later in the evening to avoid any inconvenience.

Absolutely Excellent Pizza!
I’ve been getting takeout from Pizza by Alex for years, and it’s always been fantastic. Recently, I had the chance to dine in, and the experience was just as great! Never had a bad experience eating from pizza by Alex. I love that they have a unique style and flavor. You can get a (insert town) house of pizza anywhere and they all basically taste and look the same. There is only one Pizza by Alex! I always get it done with the old oven but either one you can’t go wrong. I’m sure in 50 years they will be In the same spot, serving the same bomb pizza they always have.

Everyone is always raving about Pizza By Alex, always saying how great it is, and complaining about how addictive their pizza is. I am not so quick to buy into things, but one this was for sure, with such talk about a local pizza place, I had to put my two cents in.
So what’s the deal with the place? They sell one size pizza (10″ personal pan), and have no other food. Amazing business model! This helps them to not get too bogged down while they crank out some serious pizzas, and helps to keep the wait time to a minimum. The pizza is delicious! This helps the business to thrive. I mean… if ya only sell one thing, you’d better do it well if you plan on being around a while, and Pizza By Alex HAS been around a while for more than 60 years… which does sort of explain why the interior reminds me of a 1960s doctor’s office. Bottom line here, is they have some great food, sell it at fair prices, and pizza is awesome… everyone knows THAT! Try it… you’ll be a fan!

I’ve been coming here for 40 years always get my pizza made in the old oven. Today the cashier stood there and basically argued with two sets not just one of customers on how there is no difference between the old oven and the new conveyor style oven. There is a difference in both taste and texture. Because of this she lost the restaurant a good size sale.

This place has been around for so long. I’ve lived in the area going on 12 years and I just tried it out. My sister suggested we go for lunch. We ordered for pickup on New Years dates. It wasn’t busy at all and the inside was quiet and empty. The pizza was just alright, nothing special. My preferred is feta and spinach and it was very salty. I’ll stick to my go to pizza place.
