We finally checked out Pittsfield Cafe. I’d heard about it a few times but always forgot, mostly because I’d never just stumble onto this place, it’s tucked inside the building in a way that you kinda have to know it’s there. Total hidden gem. The whole “outdoor seating but indoors” thing is pretty cool. Feels real old-school, like a little golden-era corner that somehow survived. It was packed, but we still got seated right away, and the staff was super welcoming.
I ordered the French toast combo. Two sunny-side-up eggs, two big sausage links, and two thick slices of French toast. I thought it would be just a normal breakfast, nothing crazy, but man… those sausage links stole the show. Juicy, smoky, honestly the best I’ve ever had. Mixing that with the eggs and the French toast just hit the spot. Perfect way to start a Saturday morning.

This charming breakfast place is more than that, lunch and quality service makes this diner worth the search. Hidden away, you need to press on beyond the lobby into a absolutely beautiful interior courtyard. The atmosphere is not the best part as my family got a chicken sandwich made the way my son likes it while the staff didn’t bat an eye as my wife and I asked to split a wrap. Truly exceptional food and service all in one place.

Very busy breakfast. Food was great and the staff was very friendly. Get there early to get a seat. I ordered the Denver omelette, which was delicious. I asked for a side of sausage gravy and put it all over everything. It was amazing. My wife ordered the burger and she thought it was very good.

The perfect little diner! I was in the mood for the typical diner food and stumbled upon this place. From the moment I walked in I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. I got the Bronx Skillet with Corned Beef and it was a big portion but not too big. It would be easy to share. It came with toast and I got a side of fruit. The staff is amazing. Super friendly and offered great suggestions. I would recommend if you want a classic diner experience with good food.

The food was delicious but I’m assuming the fries were too hot when they were put in the container and it melted to styrofoam. I’m very concerned that I just ate a bunch of plastic with my food.

Breakfast at The Pittsfield Cafe is a very good choice — a genuine pleasure to stumble upon. Solid, no-fuss fare, friendly staff, and a proper breakfast done well. The bacon was pleasingly crispy, and there were good, dependable options for the vegetarian in our family too.
The building is currently under renovation, which makes things feel a little odd and temporary, but that’s easily overlooked. What matters is the warm welcome, good coffee, and food that does exactly what it should.
All in all, you can’t really go wrong here — and it felt far more welcoming and satisfying than many of the breakfast chains around the city.

What a wonderful spot in the city. Especially during the holidays, beautiful Christmas decorations and the ambience just gets you in the holiday spirit. The food is tasty and is your typical diner fare. I highly recommend I for breakfast which I had and the lunch items look great too. If you’re visiting Millennium Park, the Art Institute, Cultural Center or even the Chicago Symphony, this would be a great spot to stop by for a bite.

Great ambiance and standard diner food.
I didn’t care for the corned beef hash unfortunately, it was too charred.
Pretty expensive for what you get.

Located inside of one of Chicago’s historic buildings, this cafe brings life to what appears would have been the ballroom. Great meal at reasonable prices. Enjoy part of Chicago’s rich history.

I had an amazing breakfast at Pittsfield Café! I ordered the corned beef hash with sunny-side-up eggs, and it was perfectly cooked—crispy, flavorful hash with rich, runny yolks that paired beautifully. The historic, cozy diner atmosphere added to the experience, and the staff were attentive and friendly. Definitely a must-visit for a hearty, satisfying breakfast!
