We had an incredible evening at Pirate Republic, and it’s easily one of the best spots in Fort Lauderdale! The octopus was absolutely amazing—perfectly grilled, tender, and full of flavor. I couldn’t stop raving about it. Then came the Tambaqui Ribs—wow, so good! These deep-fried freshwater fish ribs from the Amazon are unique, crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and packed with that special seasoning that makes every bite addictive.
The atmosphere is unbeatable. Sitting right on the New River with boats cruising by, the cool breeze, and that laid-back pirate vibe—it feels like a mini escape. The views are stunning, especially as the sun sets.
The staff deserves special praise too—they’re amazing! Super friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Shoutout to the team for keeping everything spotless, including the bathrooms—they were impeccably clean every time we checked, which is rare and much appreciated.
If you’re in Fort Lauderdale, do yourself a favor and head to Pirate Republic. The food, the riverside setting, and the top-notch service make it a total winner. We’ll definitely be back—highly recommend! ‍☠️

The parking is a little Shakey to find but was available when I was there. View is beautiful and is on a busy channel so a lot of boats in and out giving it a nice vibe in my opinion. Drinks were cool , the food was ok. Since I’m east Asian my taste buds require spices for taste lol the food was decent in my opinion and was presented beautifully. Would take another date there for sure.

Where do I begin. We came Dow for the weekend and my husband found this gem. We both ordered the seafood moqueca. My, my, my. Every bite was delicious. Generous serving of seafood in every bite. Stew had a balance of spicy and sweetness from the coconut milk. I throughly enjoyed my dish!!! The Margaritas were exceptional as well. 10/10

Calamari, jerk chicken and pinot grigio were absolutely delicious. The view by the dock was the perfect touch! My waitress was attentive and quick service. The entrance is a pirate theme. Great place to be back with family.

Nice atmosphere right on the river. Can watch the boats go by as you casually eat. The food I had was exceptional the steak bites and the garlic shrimp very very good casual dining. A little hard to find but well worth the search follow your GPS it’ll get you there. Our server was pleasant and accommodating and not overbearing to bother you all through your meal but stop by periodically. See how you’re doing. Lots of specialty drinks I would say a little light on the alcohol, but the food was excellent.

This was the best place to celebrate pops 93 birthday! The place was amazingly fun with amazing views! The food was the best and prepared promptly. About the staff….woooohoooooo is the only way to describe them! Our party was composed of 17 family members to include 2 children and a 93 old teenager! We are coming back on our next trip from Orlando!

This is a pirate-themed restaurant with super fun decor and a great atmosphere. The seating is right by the river, offering beautiful views. While dining, you might even catch the bridge lifting, a train passing by, or boats sailing through—it’s such an interesting experience! Inside, there’s a stunning macaw with brightly colored feathers—it definitely steals the spotlight. We also saw a cute little black cat come up to our table for some cuddles—not sure if it belongs to the restaurant, but it made the whole meal even more fun. Both adults and kids had a great time, and best of all, the food was delicious. Definitely worth a return visit!

We love this place and have been coming here for many years. On Valentine’s Day, our group of 2 couples booked a table. Food was delicious. But service was quite poor, and an apparently new server demonstrated a total lack of preparation or training. We asked for Yucca fries and were served regular fries. When we pointed out the error, they were replaced. But the bill reflected both orders. The second mishap was that my wife ordered a gin and tonic but asked that the gin and tonic be brought in separate glasses, so she could mix her drink to her taste. The server brought 2 ounces of tonic water. When requested to bring some more, we were told that we would have to purchase a can of tonic water! We did, but in what world does a bar do this? We left quite disappointed by this attitude. But the worst thing of all is that I sent the owners a direct message about this, rather than posting a public review. Given our fondness of this restaurant, I wanted to give them an opportunity to fix this, retrain their staff and stuff. Despite a reminder, I never heard back. SO NOW I KNOW HOW MUCH THEY VALUE THEIR CUSTOMERS, AND FEEDBACK.
