It was busy tonight when we went, but it’s a Saturday night, so that’s to be expected. It was only 2 of us and we only waited about 15 minutes for a table.

Our food arrived very quickly despite how busy it was. I ordered the Kobe Pho and my husband had the oxtail Pho. We also ordered egg rolls and crab rangoon. Everything was delicious.

My Viet friend took me here and it was a great recommendation! I got the oxtail pho which the pho broth was so tasty that you don’t need to add sauces to it. The oxtails were a little on the smaller side but the meat was juicy and tender. I was oddly the most impressed by and fixated on the side bean sprouts because they are the freshest and crunchiest I’ve ever had in my life. That alone already won me over LOL!

We had pho at Pho Nam Lua, and it was hands down the best pho we’ve ever had. The broth was incredibly rich, deeply flavorful, and perfectly balanced—comforting and delicious in every way. The noodles and meat were fresh and well prepared, and each bowl was packed with authentic flavor. If you’re looking for truly outstanding pho in Chicago, this place is a must. Highly recommended!

Can easily be my new go-to spot for pho. Tasty pho ga (chicken pho). Paid cash, but didn’t get coins back as part of the change, so I took off one star. They also accept card.

Plenty of free parking available in the lot next to the restaurant.

I’m a harsh critic when it comes to Vietnamese food since I can usually make it better at home but Pho Nam Lua makes the cut. It’s a small, family-owned spot serving up authentic flavors and some hard-to-find dishes. I’ve tried a few items here and everything was at least decent, some even really good. The food generally leans a bit sweet for my taste but nothing a squeeze of lime can’t fix.

Unassuming little place. The food is ok. The broken rice with beef was pretty good. The doing rolls were hard since the skin dried out .

The sauces are just a bit off but ingredients were fresh.

OnChoy was pretty yum.

Pho lives or dies by it’s broth. I’ve been to many places that tasted like nothing.

The rich, aromatic broth here at Pho Nam Lua was wonderful. You could actually smell and taste the spices that make it. That’s the most important thing to me.

Everything else was great: the meat, the crisp veggies, the spring rolls and eggrolls.
The service was quick and friendly. I think it’s a family place where all the kids pitch in.
All in all, a great dining experience, and I will be back. Because: broth.

We ordered their special pho and spring rolls. Pho was ok, broth is meaty. Spring rolls were lacking, only lettuce and noodles with pork and shrimp. Interesting decor. Once we got our food, they never came back and our water was never refilled. Tight squeeze, very cold if you sit by the windows.

Great pho, but you really can’t go wrong with any dish on the menu. The spicy shredded chicken soup is such a comfort food, and great to pick up and have at home if you have a cold. Great appetizers. HUGE portions

We’ve been here many times; honestly, the food is great! But we always know that the service isn’t going to be great, and sometimes we have to eat a little faster. They close at 9 p.m. I believe the kitchen closes at 8:30, but even getting there at 8pm there is no more dine-in. We travel 30 minutes, and we really tried to be there before the kitchen closed, yet they said no more dine-in. It doesn’t look pleasant when customers are still eating and they start placing chairs on top of the tables and sweeping the floor before closing time, which is 9 p.m. Customers check the information on Google too, so we’re hoping they can follow what it says there. I know the food is good, but they forgot that service and atmosphere are also important. I can always edit my review when we get a better service and google information is accurate. Food again is great and we will still eat there.
