I live in Red Bank and what a great little restaurant to have in town. Food is terrific and the owners very nice and accommodating. If you go on a Friday or Saturday it can be a bit of a crazy place since the place is small and you may have to wait for a table and then for your food. It does seem that on these busy nights that the place could probably use more help. That aside the food is fantastic. Every new dish I try I love…..planing on going there tonight actually as I type this review.

Last night we decided to go to Pho Le, since we love Vietnamese food. At least we thought we did. The sauce on my lemongrass chicken tasted it was made of Skippy peanut butter. My plate looked like a big mess, chicken soaked in sauce that had no traits of lemongrass or flavor of lemongrass. I ordered crispy noodles and got a small bowl of white rice instead, than I reminded the owner who also waits tables, and she brought me white rice noodles instead. Then for the third time I told her I ordered crispy noodles, and she responded “if I want crispy noodles I have to say crispy noodles” in a rude way, which I did in the first time I placed my order. The other waitress looked annoyed serving customers and wouldn’t crack a smile. We waited almost 45 minutes for the appetizer Saigon crepe, which had nothing to do with Vietnamese food. It was flavorless and ridiculous looking.

We will never go back, food is disgusting, if you know what authentic food from Vietnam taste and look like.

The food was fantastic. The appetizers and dessert was a 5 star quality with good display and taste. The pho was good, but tasted different than all the pho restaurants Ive been to. However the service could use improvement, we were there for a couple of hours because it took time for the waiter to get to us. People who came in after us left earlier. Not to mention they took our food away early without asking if we were done. We would like to enjoy the food we paid for, thank you

I liked this place. I’d go again to explore the menu. I enjoyed their bubble tea and especially their spring rolls! You gotta try these spring rolls they are worth trying this place! My date had beef pho and was content, I got chicken and it was a very big portion for me. I couldn’t eat it all. Great place and I had a fun time trying this place out. I plan to come here again!

I don’t write a lot of reviews, but I eat at Pho Le often. I don’t understand Nora Mraz’s review other than she is extremely dissatisfied. You can’t please everyone all the time. I am Asian. My family had the biggest Chinese restaurant in north Jersey when I was growing up. I know full well the difficulties in running a restaurant.

The food here is exemplary. I have had the Saigon crepe at least 10 times and it is always the same. The consistency here is better than McDonald’s and that is by making food from scratch. I don’ know for a fact that Ms. Mraz has not been to Vietnam and knows Vietnamese food intimately, I just don’t think she has. My family served classic Cantonese food catering to American taste. This is what was demanded at the time. What we made and ate at home was nothing like we served in the restaurant. I can tell you for a fact that the food served at Pho Le is more like home cooking than commercialized corporate cooking. I am sure that there are people who think that Olive Garden is Italian and P.F.Chang is Chinese. I am not saying these places are not good and that you would not enjoy them, but for me I will always patronize a family owned business anytime over the corporate chains. Trust me. I’m Asian but not Vietnamese and the food here is great. If service is a little slow, be patient. This is a family owned restaurant, not a Danny Meyer operation backed by hundreds of millions of dollars. They do a fine job here. They are always busy and they service you more than adequately. Your satisfaction is pursuant upon your expectations. Don’t have unrealistic expectations and you will have a good meal here. I have spent over $1500.00 for dinner for two and have not enjoyed it any more than eating here. I highly recommend that you give it a try.

The food at Pho Le is pretty delish – no complaints there.

We started with an appetizer of three (large!) summer spring rolls, stuffed with shrimp, beef, & veggies & served with a great peanut dipping sauce. My friends all ordered soup entrees, but I went with the hot & spicy beef, which was, indeed, hot & spicy, but in a tasty way, not an inedible one. It came in a thick curry, served with brown rice to soak it all up, & it was really tasty, though I was a little bit uncomfortable with the level of preparedness of the beef, which was not as cooked as I would’ve liked & was still bloody in place. When I ordered, they didn’t ask me how I wanted it cooked, & as it was served thin-cut in a prepared dish, it didn’t occur to me to ask, but if I go back, I’ll ask that it be cooked closer to well-done. Anyway, the food was good, overall, & we all left stuffed.

My real issue with Pho Le was the service. We’d never been there before, & we were a little confused about the protocol at the restaurant, as no host(ess) greeted us & the only host stand seems to be in the back of the place. We walked through the restaurant, asked if we needed to put our name on a list, & gave it to an annoyed-looking waitress who said not more than three words to us (including not giving us a wait time, but the guys in front of us said they’d been told 20 minutes).

The four of us waited for about half an hour, with a party of two ahead of us, & when tables started to clear out, we figured we were getting close. Instead, a woman came up to us & told everyone waiting that they couldn’t seat us at those tables because they were waiting on a party of EIGHTEEN to come in. Still, seven minutes later, they took our party of four & seated us in the area they’d just told us they couldn’t.

It took about 15 minutes for a server to come to our table to take our orders, but once we placed our orders, we figured we were good to go. Au contraire! As we waited for our food to come, an employee approached us & asked if we would mind moving to another table. We picked up our glasses & silverware as if to head to that table, but instead, he & another server just picked up our WHOLE TABLE & moved it to the other side of the room. They didn’t let us move to the other side of the room first, just jumped right on the rearranging, so I got trapped on one side of the room, where, for a solid minute, I was stuck standing in the middle of the restaurant, holding my drinking glass, a fork, & my chair, just staring stupidly & waiting to be able to sit down. Of course, they were moving us so that the party of 18 could be seated where we’d just been. Did I mentioned that this whole restaurant seats about 24 people, total, & is miniature? Don’t take reservations of 10+!

Our food was good, as I said, but the service continued to be so mind-numbingly slow that at one point, we wondered aloud whether we were on restaurant: Impossible or some other bad-service shtick show. It was truly unbelievable.

Summary: I would probably go back to Pho Le for lunch or on a less-busy weeknight, but I would definitely not try again on a Friday night at dinnertime. This was sort of a service nightmare.

Despite their slow service, the staff is always friendly and accommodating. That, paired with delicious, authentic food and very reasonable lunch specials, really make Pho Le one of Red Bank’s hidden gems.

Since I work in Red Bank I have eaten here quite a few times, but today’s order was disappointing enough that I called to see if the restaurant had changed hands or if they had a new chef. I ordered one of my favorite dishes – clear noodles. It used to be very light, clear (glass) noodles – shaped thin like angel hair pasta almost – with chicken and shrimp and bits of fresh vegetables and herbs. Today the noodles were thick and glued together in a big inedible mass, with shredded bits of chicken and two shrimp. All of the lightness and freshness was gone. When I called to ask, I was told that they were the way they have always been. Sadly, that isn’t really true, but if this is the new normal, I won’t be back.
