Review of Peppercorn at the Bank in Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Facebook

It’s located in the old Popoli’s building and is open Monday through Thursday only. Appetizer: Every dish was exceptional. We started off with the crab cakes.

eeeeverything was divine and the side portions are HUGE! Brussels sprouts, garlic mashed potatoes, bruschetta.. even the roasted potatoes had some crazy smooth texture about them and paired super great with the bearnaise that came with the steak the carbonara was eggs-cellent and then the bananas foster, flamed right in front of you..?! we tried multiple items this visit but will definitely be back many times for even just some side dishes/apps and dessert, as that’s a whole meal in itself – 10/10, definitely recommend! ⭐ ⭐

Amazing experience all around. Our waiter was phenomenal; his knowledge of the menu, chef, styles of food, and pairings were perfect. If we ever find ourselves in the area again, this will be our first stop. You simply cannot go wrong with the steak, sea bass, or incredible brussel sprouts.

We went to Peppercorn at the bank last night for my birthday. We are familiar with them as they catered our wedding and were very excited to be able to go for dinner last night as they recently opened their restaurant back up. The food was AMAZING. Not pictured was the southwestern crab cakes and shaved Brussel sprout Caesar salad. We decided to order the 40oz bone in ribeye with the mashed potatoes and corn to split. You could split this meal between 2-4 people it was so much food but it was all well seasoned and so good. The chef came out to our table and he talked about the meal and was really passionate about his career which made us really happy to be able to enjoy such a great atmosphere. It was an expensive meal but we are happy we were able to support their business!

We found some of the items to be overpriced. The crab cake appetizer is one crab cake its $19. 3 of us dined there and all 3 of us were disappointed by the cocktails. I’m not sure if it was a bad night but the drinks lacked flavor. The steak was good and so were the side of garlic mashed potatoes. I personally found the dessert underwhelming. For the price I was hoping for a better experience.

One word to describe this restaurant … OUTSTANDING. Fantastic menu and everything our party of four ordered was incredible. Excellent cocktails as well. Top notch service and very knowledgable staff. Be sure to check out the history of this building on the back wall, the stained glass and of course the huge vault. It was originally one of eight “Jewel Box Banks” designed and built by world famous architect, Louis Sullivan in 1911. Sullivan became famous for designing many of the early skyscrapers in Chicago and was mentor to Frank Lloyd Wright.

Peppercorn at the Bank feels like the best kept secret that shouldn’t be a secret anymore. This event space is absolutely incredible. It is unique, authentic, and timeless. I struggled so hard to find a space in Cedar Rapids to meet the needs of our group and offer a space where our group could privately dine and enjoy time together.

We did a Thursday evening rehearsal dinner here and dare I say it might have been our best idea the entire wedding weekend. We received endless compliments on the private venue, food, drinks, and atmosphere. I can’t wait until the next special dinner is hosted here

Such an amazing restaurant! The food was so delicious and elevated, the interior is gorgeous, and the staff and chef are so kind! I went for an anniversary dinner, and they truly went above and beyond! It’s a perfect restaurant for a nice dinner or special occasion.

Chris met me at the entrance. He was professional, courteous and started the affair off in a very soothing manner. Justin, my primary waitstaff was punctual and took my order with a cool confidence. As I over heard both of them explaining the menu offerings, explaining their service standard, I became more and more impressed.
My steak was perfection—and I am super picky. If you can, try the Brussel sprouts—three words—Fab-u-lous! Everything, including the music and lighting, was curated and manicured to a “T”. Very nice job!

Had a work event that was catered by Pepper Corn. ALL the food was amazing. We had mostly vegans and I tried the chickpea ragout and it was amazing. I wasn’t aware of them before, and will be joining our restaurant rotation!

Company hosted a dinner here and it was amazing. The building is really unique since it used to be a bank. During cocktail hour, the bar staff were really quick and served lots of drinks. The dinner itself was incredible, I had a filet mignon that was cooked to perfection with some delicious mashed potatoes, green beans, and mushrooms. The dessert was a brownie and raspberry cheesecake that was really good as well. I’ve also had their catered food, it’s not as fancy but still just as good.
