(Vibe). When traveling we’re always on the hunt for “authentic old school restaurants”. So when we were in Los Cruces and looking for Southwest Cuisine. LOOK AT WHAT WE FOUND. The moment you pull up you see building (classic). Walking in the front door you’re welcomed by a beautiful red tile ceiling (you don’t see that any more). Entering the dining room you’re greeted with a festive interior with colorful papel picado decorations. The original brick wood burning cooking space graces one wall( too bad they don’t use it anymore).

(Food) We ordered Quesabirria Taco. Savory slow cooked shredded pork -yummy (forget about the calories). The Fajita Burrito with guacamole and sour cream was great. The chicken and beef were grilled just right and full of flavor.

(Service). It’s family run and true to the culture so don’t expect it fast. They focus on good food and serving it promptly. If you need something smile and wave they’ll be right there. If you’re looking for fast Pepe’s may not be for you.

Truly a great dining experience.

Asked the waitress what the best thing on the menu was and she directed me to the Quesabirria Tacos and wow were they good! Brisket tacos with onion & cilantro and a tasty dipping juice. Nice little spot with friendly staff.

Second time here, I tried the rainbow enchiladas, three different colors. Delicious! Also included chips and a very good salsa and a cup of soup in the price. My server was very attentive and friendly.

I had been thinking about Pepe’s since I ate there five years previous. I was so excited to get to go there again for the wonderful quesadilla. It’s cheesy without being greasy. I ordered it with rice and beans, and was charged $3.75 for a side (½ rice ½ beans) but received about 2 tablespoons of rice and 1 tablespoon of beans. The server took it back to the kitchen and had that fixed right up, and all was well.

The staff is super sweet. Food is great. Smothered Burrito in red sauce is HOT! tacos are good, better with the additional red sauce they give you. We got our food to go, but wouldn’t mind dining in next time.

The only good thing we’re the birria tacos. The other plate I had were flautas, they were really super thin with hardly any meat. The sides were extra for the hot spice and over priced. I do not recommend this place. The meal can put to over 45. Bucks. If I would of known I would of gone to a nicer place were I knew the food was a lot better. First and last time I visit this place.
La comida está súper fea por el precio , te cobran 3 dólares por una mugre salsa. No recomiendo este lugar.

The food was ok, but some entrées didn’t come with beans and rice and had to order separate. No refills on tea, 1 unsweetened tea with two refills was $9.00. Food was expensive, and 18% gratuity was included on a family of five, which wasn’t mentioned until payment. Two adults and three kids. Came out to $136.00. More than if I would have gone to Red Lobster. First and last time.
