It was decent. It definitely wasn’t crowded… Went to a different restaurant the same time, the very next day, and we had a 30-minute wait. There was another place, another barbecue place, but this place should have been more crowded. it was good the food was good

Depressing gray interior with worn out chairs and tables. There is exterior rot and damage left from previous restaurant. The chair seats are ripped and worn. There is paint splatter on the cheap lumber dividers, bench seats (no padding), and rickety tables.
It took over 30 minutes to get appetizers and then they dropped main dishes two seconds behind. The menu is basic, lackluster, and does not relate. It is the season for soup but their “seasonal soups” were unavailable. There are no grill items on the menu. I ordered a grilled cheese on texas toast but it came out as an inside out hamburger bun, greasy toasted, and soft cheese in between. Then waitress stated the menu was wrong.
The fried green tomatoes and onion rings were free made and the breading was perfect to except they did not use buttermilk or salt so very bland taste.
Service is so slow and the restaurant has no more than ten customers sitting, mostly elderly. There is a fight between music and tv sports which makes my head ache.

Very satisfied with our visit on 4/1.. I had ribs and they had great smoked flavor. Hubby had fried catfish. It was pretty good as well. Drinks refilled quickly. Rustic inside. Nice. Would def return

My wife and I visited Golden Rule, Pell City today and on arrival, there were 4 tables seated. We were greeted and escorted to our table very quickly. Our waitress was very friendly, and even though she couldnt recommend or describe flavor of anything on menu, she did make sure we received our drinks and took our order very quickly. First issues I had specifically, was the fact that my Miller lite was almost warm, they couldnt provide a cold glass for it, plastic silverware was brought out wrapped in “to go” plastic, and no salt and pepper shakers in dining room. (burger joint drive through packets were issued) I commented on these issues and she stated she hears this from “everyone”. While she couldnt bring us real glass nor salt and pepper shakers, she did bring us real silverware. I ordered 1/2 slab rib plate with potato salad and baked beans and while the ribs were tender and tasty, I was curious why the “glaze” was put on the bone side of the rib and not actually only the meat. The potato salad was ok in flavor but almost like a puree. The baked beans were like candy and actually to sweet for me to eat. They advertise them as sweet, so no complaints, they were as advertised. Bread that came on plate was actually cold. Even though the waitress stated she hated bbq, didnt eat anything bbq, and she hated seafood as well, the service was the best part of the experience. Ribs were good, but warm beer, plastic silverware, salt and pepper packets are just not acceptable for dine in.

This is no longer Golden Rule… it’s Pell City Barbecue. Went here on a Sunday afternoon to get my son some ribs. The ribs were lukewarm and had a greasy residue as if they’d been refrigerated and microwaved, just not long enough. The appearance of the ribs looked very suspect, hardened— for lack of a better word. See picture. I took a bite of the rib before giving it to my son. OMG! The texture was TERRIBLE!!! I have NEVER had any form of meat that compares to the disgusting “rib”. Imagine chewing multiple toothpicks simultaneously with added barbecue sauce. That’s what I experienced with that single bite. I returned to the restaurant for a refund. I will say that the service was overall very good from the drive thru, initially, and when I returned for the refund. As far as food… 10 thumbs down.

Service was wonderful, but whoever decides what is offered on the menu, is a moron. Wanted fried shrimp and okra; well the “new owner” has pulled both of these plus multiple other items from the menu. States that they want all of the restaurants to operate off of the same menu. If customer service is not important to them, me and mine will not be back. Plus, my husband ended up ordering the pulled chicken and this is all that he got.
