I had high expectations because I really love the Paris Baguette shops in NOVA. But it was just not same and disappointing. My drink order was rung incorrectly (sure, I could have kept a closer eye. But I had to repeat my order thrice. And I did not have any extra modifications…). I went to ask for a remake, but there was a bit of a line (not their fault). As I waited, another customer asked me if I was waiting on a drink because their order was taking a while too. Once the customers were gone, I had to repeatedly say “excuse me” to a staff member because she was busy texting at the register. Instead of asking for a remake of my order, I just asked for a cup with ice. She went to get it and seemed to be laughing about something. So I got the impression that it was about me (but I recognize it could be a multitude of things). I poured my hot drink in the ice cup and walked out disappointed.

While that was ongoing, my friend asked the original barista (who was near their table) if she could remake my drink iced. And she said she would but showed no intention of heading to the kitchen. So the lack of urgency or care felt upsetting.

Besides that, the food wasn’t that great. And my ham and cheese croissant essentially had a singular slice of meat. The meat to croissant ratio was actually crazy. The crab croquette was okay but it didn’t seem to have a lot of filling. And the strawberry croissants were alright.

Sorry to be judgmental but I rarely feel this way about cafes (love sitting down and just chilling in cafes) so this experience just plain out sucked.

If you’re into trying new or unique baked goods, this is the spot for you. This place incorporates popular baked goods from several different cultures. For instance, desserts with a sweet red bean paste aren’t very common in the US, but are a staple in the Japanese dessert scene. And you can find this exact dessert along with many other unique choices at this bakery. But don’t fret if you’re picky when it comes to desserts — they have the classics like chocolate cake too, so even the pickiest sweet tooth should be able to find something to satisfy themselves here.

Wife and I tried this place on a Saturday mid-morning. Love the self service concept, you get to browse with no pressure and I appreciate the descriptive signage so you know what’s in everything, and there’s a lot.
Food: Cookie Butter doughnut was great, very indulgent, a “wet” doughnut I like to call it. The prosciutto, goat cheese, fig, and balsamic flatbread pizza was good, but I wish it was warm (no points off because I didn’t ask). The strawberry lemon cream croissant was our favorite, simply because of the lemon cream. We also grabbed a Pistachio Cream Croissant for later.
I ordered a pumpkin cold brew. It tasted like it had steeped too long because it had a bitter aftertaste.
Service: I think this depends on the cashier you get. We had a younger one and had little to no interaction. Meanwhile the “mature” cashiers on either side of ours were engaging and helpful, offering suggestions and recommendations. The bakery side staff was great. They are constantly restocking the cases and the woman bringing out the tray of pizzas offered us a fresh one off her restock tray.
Atmosphere: Decor is cool, not a lot of seating, it would be nice to sit outside if they had seating.
Overall, we will be back for a birthday cake (they looked amazing and affordable, around $40-50), but not for the coffee. 4.2 overall rating is about right I’d say. I think I would rather support a local bakery.

My son ordered a chocolate Chiffon cake for my 70th birthday dinner. It was packaged well for transport, looked beautiful and tasted delicious! Thanks for helping to make my day special.

Paris Baguette in Hilltop VB was a good choice! This location is very new, so there is a lot of room for improvement. Lots of new employees, slower wait times, etc.. The staff is very kind, and I do not know how they do it. It is very chaotic and cramped inside. There’s very little seating, and I think they should add some tables outside! I think they need to improve the line and ordering situation. People picking out their desserts and people trying to order and workers trying to stock cases make it feel like you are always in the way of something or someone. The spacing needs work. The food is delicious! I appreciate that the baked goods are unique, tasty and not overly sweet. Nothing made me feel like I was going to get a sugar rush and crash after. All the food was filling, and the iced chai is very good. It’s a little overstimulating, but it’s worth it. I look forward to returning at a less busy time!

I was missing some things from my order and they went above and beyond to deliver it and graciously included extra treats. I appreciated it a lot since it was for my nieces birthday. The pastries were amazing!

The concept is great and I am trilled to have a French patisserie place in Virginia Beach… BUT the service needs a huge improvement. The staff doesn’t seem to really want to work there. They are not very kind or welcoming, the customer feels like a nuisance to them. On my first visit, they totally forgot to make my cappuccino so I ate my pastries without a drink… And then my drink arrived (after I went to ask for it and they said they forgot about it so they had to make it and make me wait even more) but it was super hot and I still could not drink it with my pastries. I love the idea and the food but the bad service destroys it for you. Also, I think in France they will faint when they learn that the pastries are served on parchment paper on a tray, no plates, no real cups, just plastic and paper… It really downgrades the whole experience!!! The place has a great potential, so I hope they fix it!

*update* At 9 a.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I went back for the cream custard buns because they were so delicious the last time. I was pleasantly surprised to snag some red bean buns too! Both my sister and I agree the red bean buns are pretty good, which is why we updated our rating.

I moved here a month ago from nova and was so excited to see a korean bakery that i was familiar with. I was so disappointed of their selection of korean style pastries and breads. I literally only wanted a red bean bread and at 11 am on friday, they had none. . Please make some more!

Had to give this bakery a try. The doughnuts were by far the best thing. Rich and flaky but still light. It was worth the price for the doughnuts. The savory was good but not great. The best was the sandwich sausage. It had a great taste to it but everything else savory all tasted the same.
