Happened to be in Covington and was checking restaurants near by and saw Pappy and Jimmy’s. Same owner as the one that was in Memphis, but not seafood anymore, no lobsters in a tank. It’s now Southern Home Cooking. Service was great, food was great. A real diamond in the rough if you’re looking for some good Southern Food.

I absolutely love this place! I can get amazing crab cakes and homemade sides while my daughter can get pancakes and sausage. Not very many places that can satisfy the both of us, and the prices are unbeatable. One of my favorite places to eat!

Don’t let it fool you. I may not be a brand new building but they make up for it their food. First time here today. It was recommended by some friends. They make a great country style breakfast with firendly service as well. We all enjoyed our meals and we will all be back. That is for certain.

I don’t know how to feel about this place. The food is fine, but I know a lot of it comes out of a can. The interior is a bit janky, but that kind of adds to the experience. The staff is always great, and the food is never bad.

Husband and I went for breakfast on Saturday. Quiet atmosphere, friendly service and the food was great. Will be going back. I had forgotten about this little gem in the center of town.

Stopped for lunch and it was a great choice. Pappy’s Gumbo followed with some fried Catfish. Still not sure what Jimmi makes here but as everything I ordered was good I’m sure Jimmi does good too. As I don’t eat chicken livers, I can’t speak for them but my partner ranked them 4 out of 5. Nice cozy country atmosphere. They have breakfast dinner dinner as well so it’s worth getting off the main road to check them out. I’ll be back.

Delicious vegetables….
Old school, local country cooking in a cafeteria style diner. Lots of choices, lots of seating.
